NACAC list of colleges with openings is out

When I looked the other day, I saw transfer openings at Lehigh but, not freshman openings. Are you sure?

Not sure what you are asking…Lehigh is still showing no frosh openings, but transfer openings. There is a contact email with their listing if you have questions.

@kidzncatz PW is Palau, which has a weird relationship with the US sufficient to give them a two-letter “state” abbreviation.

I try to limit my requests to “the database is broken in such a way that it can’t be determined if a school is actually accepting first year applicants,” not stuff like wrong state codes (this year is actually pretty clean for that; I think they went to a drop-down menu rather than a text box for input) or misspelled school names (alas, as plentiful as ever!) or other stuff that just makes the school look bad when looking good is within the school’s control.

You are free to email the NACAC person (email address at the top of the openings list link) or the school (because they can fix it themselves), of course! ?

I’m guessing Fordhams annual cost of $76,500 has finally caught up to them

Santa Clara University is “open to considering late applications” https://www.scu.edu/admission/undergraduate/first-year-students/

To clarify, I don’t think SCU is a member of NACAC. Accordingly, seniors looking to apply to more schools should check the individual websites of colleges they might be interested in to see if they might take late apps. (I’d be so bold as to call them, too, if their website doesn’t mention it. Can’t hurt.)

Good advice!

Once schools make their announcements for Fall format, there may be frosh and/or transfer spots open then too. Calls and emails always a good idea!

Wow, even Santa Clara.

That’s almost the entire (hyperbole) West Coast Conference (Santa Clara, USF, St. Mary’s and USD).

I don’t think it was mentioned previously, but Chapman U is on the list now for freshman and transfers.

Ohio State U - Columbus for transfers.

May 15 2020 update. Sorry for the big gap - this was AP testing week at our house.

Bethany College WV
Chapman University CA
Christopher Newport University VA
College of Charleston SC
College of Coastal Georgia GA
Colorado Mesa University CO
Colorado Mountain College CO
Creighton University NE
Illinois Institute of Technology IL
Juanita College PA (edit: I think this is actually a typo for Juniata)
Lewis University IL
Manhattan College NY
Millsaps College MS
Newman University KS
North Carlinia Wesleyan University NC (edit: sic)
Santa Clara University CA
St. John’s College MD
Stetson University FL
Tiffin University OH
University of Mount Union OH
Webster University MO

Joined the NACAC to get on the list:
Creighton University NE
Illinois Institute of Technology IL
Stetson University FL

None of the schools mentioned surprise me.

Virtually every school outside the Ivies/equivalents and maybe near-Ivies will just be trying to fill in enough bodies to make the finances work this coming school year.

Santa Clara surprises me.

May 19 2020 update:

Adds:
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University FL (NM campus was already on the list)
Roanoke College VA
University of Colorado Colorado Springs CO

Do you think one of the reasons there are openings for transfers is because many existing students might request a gap year due to Covid and online classes?

Yes, that is what I think. And I think once fall plans are announced, more schools will have transfer openings, especially those that say they will give out unlimited leaves to current students if they are online only.

I don’t know if all schools will formally advertise that availability, but for students who are interested, dropping an email to the transfer admissions officer would be a good idea.

There have historically been a lot of schools accepting transfers. Schools that have room, have room.

At the end of 2019’s season, of the 521 schools on the overall list, 17 were only accepting transfers and 3 were only accepting first-year students.

On the current list, of the 772 schools on the overall list, 18 are only accepting transfers and 12 are only accepting first-year students.

May 22 update:

Adds:
Delaware State University DE

Now up to 644 US schools with first-year admission, housing, and financial aid.

Lehigh would not have had transfer openings. It has a low acceptance rate for transfers.

And yet Lehigh does have transfer openings. You must not have taken a look at the list.

People posted about being rejected from Lehigh for transfer admissions so how could it have openings for transfers?

Maybe because Lehigh didn’t like those applicants.
