SUVs would be another example for this thread.
I believe local, state and federal laws allow citizens of driving age to own more than one car.
My DS called the Hoover Dam “engineer porn”
Don’t the now call the fake-0 stuff “pleather” or “vegan leather”? Now THAT’S an oxymoron
Where on earth did you get that idea? LOL.
In October, my daughter, son-in-law, husband, and I went to see the Eagles perform at the Sphere, and it was hands down the best live concert I’ve ever attended. The atmosphere was mellow, with no excessive screaming, the acoustics were outstanding, and the volume was perfect—I didn’t even need the earplugs I had brought along. Those “older” gentlemen delivered an amazing performance, singing almost nonstop for two hours, with just a brief 10-minute break. Combined with the Sphere’s cutting-edge technology, it was truly an unforgettable experience.
D1 took me to see Eagles at the MSG. It was one of my favorite concerts. When they show the orchestra playing in the background, it was truly amazing. It was funny that D1 knew almost every single song.
While I agree that the Sphere provides a great concert experience (I saw U2 there, it’s really unfair to compare any other concerts to that venue)…one has to like the music of the artist playing! Las Vegas is a long way to go for a concert for some of us. I’m not going to see Kenny Chesney at the Sphere either, country music is definitely something I don’t get the hype about.
I’m with you. My field’s premier international academic conference is held at a different place each time. Some truly amazing destinations. The latest one was in Williamsburg because one of the organizers is there and steamrollered everyone in order to have it there. NO ONE that was excited about that destination.
Imagine traveling all the way from Japan or Australia to spend a week in Williamsburg. On the plus side, I was able to focus entirely on the science because a couple little jaunts into town were enough sightseeing for me.
I saw U2 in Dublin. That was a long way to go but it was worth it. I haven’t been to the Sphere yet.
I thought I was alone in this. My friends thought I was crazy to want fabric seats when I was carting four kids around. “But leather is so easy to clean” I heard all the time.
Never had a problem keeping the seats clean. Never had to worry about frying my legs in the summer getting into a hot car.
I usually put waterproof neoprene seat covers on my cloth seats. There’s a company that makes awesome ones, but they’re pricey.
We liked Williamsburg in late 1980s. Went there again (and to DC) with the kids in late 1990s over spring break… had a wonderful trip. Other friends who went in the summer hated it - long lines, unbearably hot/humid.
I don’t get the hype of those large square trickling rain type shower faucet fixtures.
How are you supposed to get the shampoo out of your hair?
My daughter and her husband also saw U2 at the Sphere in April. We find lots of entertainment for the grandchildren in Las Vegas and I don’t gamble.
From Wikipedia
Colonial Williamsburg is a living-history museumand private foundation presenting a part of the historic district in the city of Williamsburg, Virginia. Its 301-acre (122 ha) historic area includes several hundred restored or recreated buildings from the 18th century, when the city was the capital of the Colony of Virginia; 17th-century, 19th-century, and Colonial Revival structures; and more recent reconstructions. The historic area includes three main thoroughfares and their connecting side streets that attempt to suggest the atmosphere and the circumstances of 18th-century Americans. Costumed employees work and dress as people did in the era, sometimes using colonial grammar and diction
It’s fine, it’s like old Sturbridge or Greenfield village. I’m sorry if you don’t feel the same. I do know that it was a real city. That Rockefeller restored in the 1930’s

Yes… because they do not want to say “vinyl” even though good vinyl is better than leather in many aspects like less maintenance and better durability.
I prefer cloth seats as well, but cloth also has a low status image so the leather or fake leather (vinyl) is often the only choice, or is required if you want some other option.
I always wondered why minivans did not offer the option of a hose-out interior.
And I am probably alone in this, but I don’t get the hype for a lot of overpriced, Live concerts. I’ve certainly enjoyed some, especially ones where we had excellent seats in boxes, etc., but I am short, and can’t stand having to stand the whole time behind people who are usually taller than me singing along with the singer so that half the time you can’t hear the artist, and people jumping around dancing. They’re entitled to have a good time, but it doesn’t strike me as a particularly fun evening. Especially when it costs a fortune. Don’t get me wrong. I have been to a few excellent concerts but at my current age, it seems way less desirable.
