Name A Product You Don’t Get The Hype About

-beach vacations
-movies with violence, horror, or usually even fantasy
-moon roofs on cars (I’d rather have the headroom)
-name brands on clothing (or shoes)
-white soles, especially on active footwear

I think designer handbags were much better made years ago so I’m not surprised to hear that you have one that has lasted decades. Todays stuff doesn’t seem to hold up (ask me how I know).

It might be a plot to limit resale!

(Any) Restaurant or takeout pizza.

I will say someone gave me a Dooney & Bourke bag a few years ago (use it occasionally) and it has worn really well- just relentlessly sturdy. Probably just mid-fancy but I can appreciate the quality aspect!

My fav. bag - the amazing laptop backpack purchased on Amazon based on CC reviews! Several of my work colleagues now have it based on my enthusiasm lol

I agree with the designer/luxury handbag HUH???. I mean…a handbag is what you use to age gum, lose coins, carry all the things your DH refuses to ‘put in his pockets’.

I especially don’t get those quilted looking ones…with a big chain as a strap. Looks like something I would have made in sewing class (yes, I know they are leather).

Ooooh… I think I recommended that bag. I have two. Love them. And they seem to be holding up very well.

Cracker Barrel, I have eaten there and I don’t get why people are willing to stand in line for terrible food. I had a hard time finding anything somewhat nutritious to order. The candy selection on the other hand was impressive.

I don’t think not getting the hype about something you’ve never tried is legit. There are a lot of things I wonder why people love or buy but I can’t judge if I haven’t tried it.
I like a nice handbag but I can’t see myself buying a bag that cost thousands of dollars. I don’t know if they are worth it since I’ve never owned one.
Until I flew business class I didn’t get the hype. Now I wouldn’t do a long haul trip in economy.

I love it. And I’m kinda hard on stuff generally - it wipes clean, stays new looking – despite being hauled to work daily & holding all my stuff (including excessive skincare) for long weekends via plane when don’t want to pay for a carryon, LOL. So …thanks!!

Maybe we need separate threads for handbags, car options, InstantPots (oh wait, we have one) or any other product people feel the need to defend.

There are at last five Dunkin Donuts in walking distance from my house. One Starbucks. I prefer DD, though overall I rarely buy coffee out. So much cheaper to make my own.

High heels. I’m a flats forever gal.

Also makeup, manicures, massages, hairdye, name-brand fashion.

I’m pretty low maintenance overall.

Has anybody had praise worthy truffle fries? I’ve heard people rave about them, but the times I tried them they just seemed like good french fries… just pricier.

Can we do a complete product class? Battery electric vehicles.

I bought that backpack too—actually 2 of them. I gave the smaller one to my niece, who is a teacher. I kept the larger one for my carryon for travel. I’m pretty happy with it. The trolley handle fits over whatever bag U place it on (was too tight with smaller bag). I love that it’s so light when empty. My big problem is not overpacking it because it can hold a lot but does get heavy when overpacked.

I prefer that bag over the much more expensive Tumi backpack H bought at an airport shop when he wanted to spend our foreign money from a trip before we left the country.

Excellent point. You an actually TRIED the thing people were raving about and did not “get it.”

Maybe people shouldn’t post about things they have not tried, touched, test drove, etc.? Because that is not how I read the OP.

Regarding my post about giant trucks, we are actively looking and test drove some. There does not seem to be anything out there that matches our old Tundra in size that can haul as much gravel as the old lady does! Plus, some of those monstrosities do not fit into a standard garage door! :scream: But apparently that’s what the truck buyers want. I don’t get it!

Note I did not say something like “I don’t get western boots.” Because I don’t own a pair nor have I tried them on to be able to judge.

Same size bed, but differently endowed owners…

Seems like we are due for a fresh purse/bag thread.

Yup. The size is not an issue… it is how much weight the truck can haul… that gravel is mighty heavy! plus some have weird features in the bed or funky tailgates that would require some creative lining before dumping dirt in them. Still shopping.
