Name Changes: Bad?

How do colleges react to name changes? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Harvard says that anyone who changes their name to “digital elf” would be guaranteed admission.

I hear changing your name to Adolphus Winthrop Octopoctulus III will get you a full ride at any of the UCs.

Lies! The only name that gets you a full ride at UCs is Dong Wang. That was the name of a TA I had, and he really did have a full ride.

Seriously people, does anyone have any knowledge on this?

I’m curious about this too because I really wanna change my name

They really don’t care all that much unless you change it to something like, “Ceasar Titts.” In that case, they may not be too thrilled with it, but what’re they gonna do if it’s legal?

Well they might say:

 1. Oh, this person changed his name, he must really be unhappy with his life. Lets reject him because we don’t want discontents at our school! [hits reject button application flames]
 2. Wow, this person is bold and willing to change! We want someone who is willing to take risks at our school. Accept [hits accept button]

OOOOORRR… they might not read into it at all. Is your name really that bad??
btw, why don’t you think I’m serious about Adolphus Winthrop Octopoctulus III?? Try it, and see for your self!

The octopus name would most likely make them think that you’re a joker and that you are trying to pull off a trick on them.

Can colleges check your previous name?

Yes.
If you wanna change your name from Chin Chong to Jerome Bennis and then mark off “african american” it won’t work.

Well, look at the stats… no one named Adolphus Winthrop Octopoctulus III has ever not gotten a full scholarship!

What if I change my name to RunLikeBuffalo and mark that Im native american?

You will get your land taken and forced to march 1000 miles west where you will live in a crummy hut and have National Geographic take pictures of you every year.

How can they check your previous name?

The magical wand of Hogwarts.

no really, how can they?

they know people who know people who know people. They can access anything about you that they want to know.

that’s your asumption

Not really. I don’t really believe anything I’ve written in this thread.

even better
