Narcissists, do you know any?

The narcissist who has caused my family so much pain is a master manipulator and possibly a sociopath. Unfortunately, he is a relative and was in business with my H, who eventually left the business to get away from him. His success comes from his lies, manipulation, and the fear he instills in people. We have completely cut off contact with him, but because he and H are in the same business, he has continued to cause trouble for the past 10 years. The only way to deal with a malignant narcissist is to try and stay out of his or her orbit. We should’ve moved to a different state 10 years ago.

My BIL has ALL of these.

My mom has a few of these narcissistic traits. She’s always been very difficult to deal with - I don’t know how my dad has done it for so many years. I will say that she’s also battled depression and anxiety for most of her life. Like others I could share numerous examples, but over the years I’ve actually worked on not keeping a tally.

ETA: at one time I’d keep a mental list of her “bad” behavior, but then I asked myself. “Why”? It has nothing to do with me.

They are good at sucking up to authority figures. But also expect those under them to suck up to them.
