I loved it and most everyone I’ve talked to locally (Nashville) did as well. It will even out. It’s fun for us and I hope it makes it!

If you want to be on the show, they are casting for extras. Nashville is a little far for me :D

In an example of life imitating thread, my wife called me this morning from the middle of her (long) commute to talk about the show. We had both watched it, in different locations, but hadn’t discussed it at all yet. “I was thinking about that Nashville show, and I figured you could help me. I never got all the men sorted out. They all looked the same! Which was the man who was sleeping with the slutty woman? Was that Rayna’s husband?”

Trashy but might end up as my guilty pleasure show of the year.

As locals, DH and I enjoyed watching. Is it soap-ish? Yes, but we really enjoy recognizing the sites and, though I’m not a country music fan (gasp, especially since my husband works in the business), I kind of enjoy the music, too.

Today’s edition of The Hustler, Vanderbilt’s student paper, has a full color spread on all the characters and their relationships. Just noticed that Avery’s last name is Barkley, the last name of the most prominent citizen ever from Callie Khouri’s hometown.

Question for Nashville residents - what was the location where Deacon and Rayna met in tonight’s episode? I wondered if it was Cheekwood. Anyone know?

I just loved the little girls singing tonight- the music on this show is so good. Interesting episode. I already am starting to have a little compaassion fot that stinker Juliette. Sigh. I like watching whole seasons in a row. This once a week thing is killin me.

2VU- I think it was Percy Warner Park at the steps behind the stone gates off of Bellemeade Blvd.

I was just the tiniest bit bored this week :(

I do enjoy the evening soaps so started watching this even though I thought I didn’t like country music. As far as I knew, country music was all loud and twangy and Loretty Lynn and Grand Ol’ Opry. But I’m really enjoying the soft, slow ballad-like duets that they’re doing, both with Rayna and Scarlett. Is that a new direction in country music, or something outside the norm?

Oh, and I can finally tell the guys apart. I think.

It’s hard to answer your question, since country music covers a huge range. The “twangy” stuff is generally older country, but a lot of “new” country is basically pop. Even the same artists have a range of styles/songs.

MOWC, thanks for the ID on Percy Warner Park. I know a bit of Nashville very well, but other parts not at all.

Marilyn, regarding country music - I couldn’t stand country music growing up. Every Saturday night at 6:30 on our local NBC channel they aired the Porter Wagner show featuring Porter and Dolly Parton (before she gained real fame). I couldn’t get to the tv set fast enough to shut it off. However, with ties to Nashville through my Vandy kids, I have really come to enjoy the new country music that is so popular now. If you want to get a more broad based idea of today’s country music, you should watch or DVR the CMA awards on Thursday, November 1st on ABC. If you DVR, you could listen and fast forward as desired to get a good cross section of today’s country offerings. My personal goal is to go to CMA Fest in the next year or two. It’s held in June and for the price of a ticket, you can see multiple headliners in one evening. It’s 4 nights in a row, so die hard fans really get a big fix of their country favorites via that format.

Regarding last night’s episode, I liked seeing the parallels in both Rayna and Juliette with their individual heartaches from a problem parent. Loved the girls duet. I can’t wait to find out how crooked Teddy has been in his business dealings and hope it will open the door for a Rayna/Deacon reunion. I won’t be surprised if they reunite somewhere down the road (can’t imagine it would be too soon) and then Juliette ends up pregnant.

Does anyone else wonder if Watty White was the songwriter that Rayna’s mom was involved with?

To me it’s funny because it’s my H who “likes” the night time soaps. It was he who was a big time fan back in the 80s. Me, not so much, but I don’t watch TV all that often. He liked this one (Nashville) and he still likes Parenthood, which I no longer watch since it got predictable this season.

I am loving this show but I think it is mainly because I am enjoying the music and I love Hayden Panetierre. I do find that I am eagerly waiting for SOMETHING to happen, though, I feel like the story is moving kind of slow…

I also JUST finished watching the entire Friday Night Lights series in like three weeks, and there is so much character development and story in that show that this show is a little disappointing my comparison. I don’t get Rayna at all… when I think big star I think of someone whos sort of a diva type-A personality, and we saw a touch of that but not much. But she doesn’t seem like the super humble kind of mega-star either… or really ANYTHING in particular. I find myself forgetting shes not Mrs. Taylor! I feel like she’s just sort of “there” right now, and as much as I adore Connie Briton I am more interested in Juliette Barnes right now.

I am holding out hope, I am still enjoying it. I am just hoping they give a little more soon.

ETA: What do we think of Juliette stealing the nail polish? I didn’t get that scene.

Rayna is actually quite similar in demeanor to some of the local stars like Martina and Reba. I find her character more interesting than Hayden’s. maybe it’s an age thing.

Coincidentally, I watched a movie tonight with Connie Britton in it. “No Looking Back,” from 1998. She played a working class girl in New York. I didn’t recognize her at first! She looked SO young. I really like her a lot

DH happened to come in while my daughter and I were watching the last episode of “Nashville.” He thought the music was great. I think we’ll get him hooked on that basis, alone. DD is shocked that she likes the music, since she has to listen to the twangy stuff that her bus driver plays five mornings a week.

Hmm. It could be, though I don’t normally have issues understanding adult characters. I just can’t figure her out at all, I wish I was getting to know her better. At the moment I feel like she has all these other forces acting around her and she’s just kind of floating through… maybe it’s supposed to be that way until she makes a decision about the tour. A strong female lead catches my attention and maybe she just isn’t that right now with all the insecurity of the tour not going the way she planned.

I find Juliette interesting in sort of a gawking way… she’s volatile in a way that makes me think, “NOW what is she going to do!?” I liked that it was so easy to hate her early on and now that’s a little more complicated, at least for me. I am more interested in Rayna’s actual story, though. Watching Juliette is just like watching a car accident.

Did anyone watch last night? I feel like the hour goes by so fast! I am always waiting for the next episode. Loved seeing Kimberly Williams on. Wondering if the secret between her and Rayna’s husband has to do with money, not an affair. Gunner seems momentarily distracted from his crush on Scarlett. Scarlett’s boyfriend is soooo jealous of her easy success. Wonder how long they are going to last. I hope the music on this show continues to be as good as it has been so far. The show will make as much on iTunes downloads as they do from advertising!

I watched and still love it. The plot thickens…
