National Coffee Day Today - whatcha drinking??!

It’s national coffee day AND Friday - good day to treat yo self to a special drink!

This morning I’m just drinking some brewed vanilla flavored (not sweetened) coffee from our workplace cafe, but later have a date with a friend at Starbucks where I’m going to give the new Maple Pecan a try.

Whether you are a Starbucks daily or a Folgers daily - whatcha drinking today??

The regular-Starbucks Pike Place Roast from a Keurig pod, black and brewed on “strong” mode. Nothing exciting. But office coffee is SO much better than ten years ago. We used to have a communal coffee pot of Community French Roast. When I made a new batch I used to stick my mug under the brewing flow, both because I was impatient and I liked my coffee as strong as possible. Apparently I was the office jerk though, for stealing the “heart” of the coffee. I also was guilty of leaving the pot on the heat a couple of times as I left the office for the weekend, resulting in quite the mess on Monday. Things are much more civilized now.

Water.

Well coffee is made with water too. I meant, if not clear, what’s your coffee of choice today???

I have really reduced my caffeine intake and eliminated artificial sweeteners on top of that. So today I’m drinking Green Mountain half-caff black.

Blech.

Coffee light.

Mr. B’s favorite instant Folgers. I gave up. He is incurable. There is a Starbucks downstairs at work. I’ll grab something there. For now, I need warm water with caffeine, and the Folgers will do.

Lol…instant Folgers??? I haven’t seen instant since about the early 70s… until my parents bought their first Bunn.

Right now, drinking Maud’s Righteous Blends Dreamy Creamy Salted Carmel from a Kcup. They’re online. I get the 80 cup variety pack thru Brad’s Deals using their discount code below for added savings…

All the flavors and non-flavors have nice undertones. The Tall Dark and Handsome is surpisingly good for a dark. The undertone descriptions for each variety is found on the link.

Drinking my regular morning coffee. San Luis Obispo Roasting Company half French roast and half de caff Morning Fog Lifter. Black with no sweetener made in my drip coffee machine.

English Breakfast tea

Iced coffee made at a little shop overlooking Casco Bay. They make the ice cubes with coffee.

Kona coffee at HI Starbucks tastes heavenly. Sigh. I want to go back.

2 cups from my Keurig with half and half. I wish I had a skinny vanilla latte but not today.

This is where I miss @xiggi! He would make fun of us with our Keurig’s but @BunsenBurner with her instant folgers! Just an affront to his coffee snobbery

Blanchard’ “dark as dark” - roasted in Richmond, Virginia.

Cafe la Llave

Honestly, what is wrong with the rest of you? This is the good stuff. We no longer have to ask Happygrandma to send it to us from Miami because our local Safeway now carries it.

Just ran out of beans after my morning cup, so I’m actually headed to my local roaster/cafe today for another bag. I like fresh-roasted (within the last 7 days) single-origin beans. I’m not particular to any single farm - I like to try a different farm every time. There’s a couple of roasters I use locally, and sometimes I’ll splurge for a bag from Intelligensia or Blue Bottle when I feel like a change.

Anybody who loves coffee and is drinking starbucks or grocery store coffee might want to give fresh locally-roasted single-origin a try. Search on yelp or google “3rd wave coffee” and your city to find a local place that does their own roasting to see what’s available in your area. Those types of places also tend to follow fair-trade practices so you can help out the actual farmer while you’re at it.

Peet’s - Major Dickason’s Blend

Lungo made in my Nespresso Pixie. Never would have bought that machine for myself but glad DH did!

I got my two for the price of one…medium pumpkin spice…at Dunkin Donuts. $2.04 total!

My usual Dean’s Bean’s–Uprising, a medium blend.

Never been into the flavored coffee thing, though I do add a little cream and sweetener.

Some of these coffees sound more like dessert!
