@MrAustere #2852: I haven’t seen anything new for MN other than what’s been posted here. Very interested in the new SI percentiles that @destined4harvard was talking about. D3 got her paper score late last week but didn’t learn anything new. What have you learned at your school?
And I really don’t know what to think after my daughter’s conversation with her GC. They are discouraging the Junior class from taking more than one type of standardized test. When she explained that while she had already scored well on the ACT she possibly needed to vet her PSAT score by taking the SAT, they just gave her a funny look and repeated what they said. She asked about National Merit and they didn’t have any answers - not sure they even said anything as definitive as “wait till September”. D3 got a 220 and MN has been bouncing around 214-215 for several years so the idea that her score just MIGHT be good enough for National Merit is a completely reasonable one. I think they are just in over their heads with the new test and are afraid to make any recommendations. And I know that they aren’t focusing on the right side of the tail - they are just trying to get some kids graduated at this point. But I just don’t know what to think about a possible cut-off as their “input” is worse than useless. I’ll need to check to make sure they aren’t involved when commended is announced. I know that our principal and Ass’t principal are very enthusiastic about National Merit so I think I’ll just take any future questions to them directly.
D3 can’t find anyone who has beat her score (the one kid with the 1510 turned out to be false information so @SLparent if you are still doing those SI’s by state just remove the 1510/224-226 entry from MN). Paper scores did go home over the weekend and parents might have finally had a chance to examine them. It’s possible that D3 will hear more information this week. I’ll post if I learn anything new.

@Tgirlfriend, destined4harvard reported his GC received an "updated’ percentile list this past week. If you read the posts, you can see it isn’t exactly clear what the GC received but indicated that 207-208 may represent 99th percentile. If the GC had an updated SI % table, the GC should be able to give a precise number, not the range of 207 to 208 - so some skepticism is warranted. But I’m sure destined4harvard is relating the information he/she received. So GC probably got something new.
If you contact your school, maybe ask if they have received anything new from CB that would indicate SI % based on actual test takers instead of the reported National % / User % / SI % which appear to all be based on CBs research study. The emphasis to school would be on anything for actual test takers.
IF they have received any such info, then the minimum SI numbers for 99+%, 99%, and 97% would be desirable to have.

Maybe @destined4harvard can clarify. Are we sure these percentiles are actually “updated”? The fact that the GC just got scores and percentiles last week isn’t that unusual - I think many GC got results super-late.
I know we all want to believe that now there are “updated” (accurate) percentile tables - but it seems a bit hard to believe TBH…

In the Testmasters’ article answers to questions section. They said (under February answers) they updated the estimates and provided a link. However I open the link I could not find the updates. Can somebody else try to take a look?
I took this information as shoddy reporting, but I suspect some of you might think differently. The Cobb report and the Texas report gave different national means. 
I opened the link, and I only saw recent articles on other topics. I went back to the article, and found the links gone. Strange.

About 6,200 students, 47 percent of Cobb 11th-graders, took the PSAT. Students received an average total score of 1113, exceeding the state and national averages of 1018 and 1009.
Walton High School had the highest total score in the district, 1124. Lassiter’s total score of 1064 was second highest in the district. Three other schools, Kennesaw Mountain, Pope, and Wheeler, also had total scores higher than 1000.
@Mamelot, at our school GCs encourage students to take both ACT and SAT to see which one they get a higher score on.
At 220, your kiddo is going to make SF and should plan to take SAT.
For those of you who have gotten paper PSAT, did it include the pamphlet with the questions?
@ambitionsquared In the past few years, students no longer received a “high-scorer” letter, but principals were sent a list of their high scoring students and asked to confirm that all reported information on the student was correct. Some principals will not share any information from NMSC at all (my experience), but many will communicate to their students that they are on the list. From there, the folks on CC share their scores and eventually narrow down the cutoff score pretty accurately. This has happened in April in past years.
HOWEVER, since CB has been delayed on all of their reporting (allegedly including no state summaries until the fall) there is no way to know for sure if or when this step will take place.
