National Merit Cutoff Predictions Class of 2017

@EarlVanDorn, thank you. There is nothing negative about your explanation, just another speculation like we all have here. Since your estimates were based on last year NHRP results - u r True Beleiver - can you compare this PSAT with last year (2014) PSAT, see if you can come up something. Reason is NHRP cover about 200K, while PSAT 1.7mil , lead to more normal distribution
2014 PSAT:

Even though college board and national merit are two separate organizations, I would imagine that national merit doesn’t hire their own staff of statisticians. College board probably does the data analysis and sends the results NM to administer scholarships. So, nhrp and nm cut-offs are probably calculated by the same statisticians using the same methods, which by the way are likely much more sophisticated than a simple normal distribution application.

University of Oklahoma sent my DS (221 in CA) an email indicating that he did well on the PSAT and promoting their NM scholarship program. Others?

@svetoy #3382 I just checked and yes. SI 216. Others?

D3 got the university of OK e-mail.

  1. MN

Yep. DS got the email SI 224 - I’m confused… I thought colleges didn’t see these scores…

My son got the email with a 221 in NY. It would be interesting to learn what the lowest number in various states that got the email was. I wonder how specific the information U of OK bought was…

Don’t a lot of colleges sent the mass mailings to larger than just the top 16k or 50k kids?

I got the U of OK email with 215 in KY.

State please, so that we can estimate the cut off.

Did not receive the OK email with a 216 in AZ. Did, however, receive a letter in the mail a couple of days ago from Northeastern which I believe gives full tuition for NM however the letter says nothing about that.

Can anyone please feedback how the University got the Email address and learn the students SI score. Did anyone in CA can get any Email Invitation from any University. Thanks!

My D in NJ got the OK email discussing NMSF with a 224

No email for Oregon 214

Got the OK email today in CA with a 224

I also received Mails from many colleges sayings things like “Congratulation, You got good ranking, good PSAT scores etc” and they give passwords to login and check out scholarships but none of the letter specify my 2015 PSAT scores.
So my question is if you receive OU letter with your exact 2015 PSAT score?
Otherwise, many will miss their heart beat by this news

My son received the OU email today (SI 218), but nowhere did the email reference his specific SI.

We did go on their website, I think, about 2-3 weeks ago and request their National Merit info pack. At that time, there was a drop down menu with a range of scores you could choose from. I believe it was a required field. I thought it said we would get something by regular mail, but we never received anything.

Sounds like OU is using last year’s cut offs.

@dallaspiano It didn’t specify a specific SI number but it was specific to the PSAT. My daughter’s inbox has been flooded with solicitations from colleges. But only a couple others mentioned the PSAT. The OK email said something like congratulations on your impressive PSAT score and then went on to talk about NM. BUT, it was more or less a heads up email - like if you qualify, you should consider these opportunities. I have no idea if they went off of TS or SI but either way they could just be going off of last year’s qualifying numbers. Trying to figure anything out from who got what email will surely prove to be just more speculation. But I guess it’s interesting in the meantime.

@HalfMoon22, thank you Mme (Sir?)
That was exactly I got " congratulation, impressive, good grades, good PSAT scores and etc"
