Why would UC help make it easier for CA kids to attend when they can collect full OOS tuition from all the OOS kids who are happy to pay to go. (Spoken as a crabby CA grad financed by a 2nd mortgage)
Does anybody have an idea of what new SAT score(out of 1600) will be good enough to move from NMSF(I think I got it because I got 224/228 on the PSAT) to NMF in the upcoming year?
Because UCs are state schools which were founded to give good education to CA resident students. Regarding MIT not having merit based scholarships, I guess they think ALL students or MOST students who get in there are strong academically and ALL of them deserve merit scholarships. NMF scholarships offered by ASU etc seem great deals for residents of their states but not as good for non-residents.
@websensation – I would think the UCs should give merit aid to in state students first - before awarding to others. But I think they might use it to entice OOS & international students to come. Re MIT - have definitely heard that is why no merit aid - everyone would qualify.
yes, that makes perfect sense about MIT and any of the top twenty really. They have so many top students clamoring to get in they no need of a carrot of any kind. Wonder just how much need based they do though.
Did you visit any others that you did not recommend?
College Board has posted a conversion from old SAT to NEW SAT in app store based on concordance tables. Interesting.
How do you see this is there a link?
For people who took the sat this April at school the results are coming on May 18th
Here’s another thread talking about it. Better to look there than to duplicate the info. SAT Concondance table.
It says the info will be posted today, but the App Store has it out already. I downloaded it and had not problem converting old to new SAT results.
So if the old SAT confirming score was 1960, it will probably be 1385 on this new test?
@rb681000…what was your math …critical reading and writing scores? It asks for them separately.
@Tgirlfriend I just got that from table 1.
@Tgirlfriend But on table 9 it looks like it will be 1380.
well we are supposed to be getting emails tomorrow letting us know the march 5Th scores are available online. My fingers crossed hoping he did well.I know for sure he did his best so I will be satisfied because of that. For him though I hope he hit the 1500’s.
How foolish to have expected the final PSAT concordance tables to be available before the SAT concordance tables. That’ll learn me for the next time.
@rb681000 …that I don’t know. I downloaded the app and just plugged in my S’s scores.
What is the app. called and is it for iPhone or Android? TIA
Why put it on an app that you need to use one time? Put it on the website, CB.
