After longtime I am back on this thread. Didn’t realize that people can find out cutoff score this week!
Good luck to all in the coming days/weeks as we learn cutoff scores. And in the bigger picture of college and beyond. And thanks to everyone here who contributed to this months long discussion/hunt.
Parts of this discussion reminded me of a quote from Back to School: I feel like I just gave birth. To an accountant.
^^ Do not go gentle into that good night
Thanks to everyone who helped fill the time during the wait!
My child’s GC read a portion to me of the official letter from last year’s NMSF notification to the school. It said the students and their families could be told but were asked not to tell anyone else until the press release date.
I wonder if we called today and asked specifically - did letters go out to GCs today? Would they tell us…
To all the statistical gurus particularly @thshadow and @DoyleB who brightened our winter fog with their clear-head statistical thinking - THANK YOU! Oh, and also: ^:)^
This thread rocks. Blessings to all and good luck!
Will be watching the mail.
Good luck to all you great kids and outstanding, involved parents.
Okay…now everyone here is making me sad. I wish all the best of luck with NMSF and I hope that Art is right on with his numbers. Lets here from some home school parents soon! I know our principal will tell us as soon as he knows. I will post on here if someone hasn’t already for Texas. For the next few weeks this will be our life line to NMSF. Good luck to everyone and thank you for all the input. Great information has been discovered on this forum. =D>
@thshadow GOOD ONE!!
Agree – good luck to everyone here! Thanks to all of our statistics whizzes for keeping us occupied despite how little real data they had to work with!
@KdgMom6, from what I have heard, it depends. They leave it purposely vague. I do know of a student who appealed two C’s on the basis that it was a combined literature/social studies class with a double grade that put a heavy premium on discussion and he was a shy kid. The principal wrote a persuasive letter and he moved from SF to NMF.
@Mamelot --thanks for saying thanks to @thshadow and @DoyleB! Agree & I know you, @ucbalumnus & others were helpful too – aah memory lane.
If homeschool reports are mailed today-- from NY? - then some may get them tomorrow but in any event, by Thursday/Friday I’d think (hope) there will be useful info to be shared!!
I have heard that 1 C will not stop your chances of moving forward, but 2 Cs or lower (a D!) will make it diffucult to move onto finalist.
Here’s a little bit of fun to keep us busy the next few days. Another thread just reported that CB has released SAT Practice Tests 5 and 6 (available on Kahn Academy website). Who wants to take a look at the scoring conversion tables and figure out whether they are harsher/easer than 1-4? ;))
@Mamelot Fun! Looking now!
Thank you for your help. I will me that in mind.
Hey Everyone,
Does anyone know what the cutoff is for NC?
LOL
