Unless things have changed they aren’t prohibited from sharing the results directly with the families affected. They are just prohibited from making the news public till the press release date.
That application deadline comes quickly in Oct. and waiting till Mid-Sept. seems beyond ridiculous
We’re on the bubble in MD (SI=220). I’m waiting until I see evidence here that MD and VA families have received letters. Then, I might ask our principal (I’m on PTSA, so we have a working relationship) if he can just tell us if DD is on the list or not. Response from the school may be dependent on how the question to them is worded – you’re not asking who is on the list, just to confirm if you are or aren’t, with the promise that you won’t tell anyone else at this point (except, of course, this thread ;-)). But I think we also have to understand if the schools choose to wait until mid-September. I agree that an early Oct. deadline is ridiculous for a mid-Sept. notification, but that’s NMSC’s fault, and they should catch the flak for that, not the schools. It’s ridiculous that they sit on it for close to a year to begin with.
I sent an email the GC at the young patriot’s school telling her that he only wanted to take SAT if he needed it for NM. I told her that the last day to register without paying a late fee is this week. She will answer me.
To borrow a term from another thread our school farms NMF so the school will be on top of it.
NMSC doesn’t tell the schools to sit on the info till the Release Date. That would be the school either opting to do so (much easier than risking a leak) or misinterpreting the instructions. There’s a lot of ignorance out there.
Totally agree that NMSC sits on this info. too long. But I suspect their staff is busy with the previous year and then publishing the annual report up until summertime. Also, in the spring they request that principals and other administrators get back to them with any changes etc. and it just may take awhile for info. to trickle in. With 16,000 kids you are talking a LOT of schools and homeschools. Of course, if they aren’t doing any of this electronically (and we have no evidence that they are) then that’s really slow AND expensive. Their benefactors should require they upgrade their systems pronto!
On bubble for S as well with a 218 in TX. We just moved from FL his soph year. Had we stayed he would have made it for sure. Now, possibly a point or two away. O_o
SuzyQ, Hi, I’m the confirmed 221 homeschooler in NY. My letter doesn’t specify what the confirming SAT needs to be. There is further information when you log into the website, but I haven’t found a confirming score yet. It does give the time period of acceptable SAT scores: from October 2014 through December 2016.
