@mamelot…let’s think this through. Very easy to figure out cut-offs if we have the book.
The Magic Book would be VERY handy right about now!
@itsgettingreal17 the book lists nmsf’s by school for each state (or at least for the state you are in but i think it’s each and every state from what other posters have said). Unless we know what everyone scored OR everyone in that book posted here, how could we figure out the cut-off? And for the second one, you don’t even need the book.
Woo Hoo @CallOfDucky ! Congratulations. The young patriot is also 217 in FL.
On Compass a Kansas student was 214 and did not make semifinalist. Must be greater
In OK, DS17 has Index of 215. School won’t give us official word yet, but the guidance counselor emailed me and told me to sign him up for SAT test :-).
Or, we need something like this, every OH semifinalist is listed from prior year!

Kansas data point at 214 is useful, we know now the lower end of Art’s predictions may not hold. Caution, may not. Recognize that only lower-end SI’s are useful predictors of cutoffs.
We need more results! Come on folks, if you have the info please post. If you don’t want to post here, please post on College Compass’s comments thread here:http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/national-merit-semifinalist-cutoffs The names are anonymous on both sites.
PM me if you want to keep anonymous and prefer to feed the score through someone else.
That KS person was really great to post! Lower bounds are just as helpful!
just as helpful?! they are the only key piece of information we need…
if the post is genuine, we can confidently state KS > 214
Illinois cut off 219 per sons GC. My son was 218 and just missed it
@perch1024 I am so sorry! I hope somehow GC is mistaken.
Without further info, the lower bound is as helpful as the upper bound for a first report. If the upper bound has been established, then a lower bound nearby is crucial.
Very helpful. No hope for TX then at the same cut off. Probably 221.
Ouch. 219 is the top of Art’s prediction for Illinois. That wouldn’t bode well for the rest.
@perch1024 – wow – that’s too bad! Art had projected 217 or IL. Hugs!
219 for IL? Ouch. Is someone sending that over to the other thread?
Did IL begin to mandate the SAT last year? That’s a high number.
Compass prediction for IL is 217 with 219 at their high end. Not looking good for CA also! probably CA will come @ 221. DS is @ 220. I was expecting it to be 219, but I may be wrong.
It’s looking like all cut-offs went up from last year.
