anyone know how they choose bet. presidential and trustee. i really need a full scholarship to go to usc and i didnt get to qualify for trustee. is it because i applied to marshall?

My d and I went on Thursday and Friday. They really give the students a warm welcome and well deserve applause for all their hard work. They go all out! Thursday was spent going on campus tours, Thematic Options Honors Overview, then you break up into the college you are assigned and they go over the programs with the groups at that point. Thursday night the students are assigned their host/hostess and the parents attend a dinner with the faculty, I really enjoyed the dinner. Friday was the interview. Wear business attire!!! A suit if you have one. Then we had to leave because she needed to get back to school. Overall she loved the school…the overnight was not the greatest. Good Luck!

I’m a parent and am a bit concerned about the overnight stay. Why was is not great for you child? Should I be concerned?

I would not be concerned. This was the first overnight she was on and looking back I should have discussed with her an option to leave if she was not enjoying herself. She was concerned leaving would reflect poorly on her and might affect whether she would receive the trustee or not. Overnights are really dependent on the host/hostess that your child is assigned.

I see. Well, it sounds like she go through it ok. You are so right in saying that it is dependent on the host/hostess. I’m praying for a descent person for my son. Another poster said that her son had a great host. In fact they had 2 trustee candidates in one room with the host. What area of study is your dtr in? my s is Internationa Relations. School of Public Policy, Planning, and Development. She had a friend that is up for the trustee also. My d’s friend left her host and went with some other students to the basketball game and she had a great time.

To all,

My daughter is in junior HS and had the following scores:

PSAT=223 (taken in 11th grade in Oct/07)
SAT1=2150 (taken in 10th grade in May/07), SAT1=2270 (taken in 11th grade in Nov/07)
SAT2-Math2C=800, SAT2-Bio=690, SAT2-Chem: will be taken in Jun/08.
ACT=35
EC’s: Hospital volunteering: 100+ hours; Doctor shadowing: 50+ hours; Tutoring in middle school: 3h/week since 10th grade; Other volunteerins from Community Service Club in her school.

I would like to ask the following questions for her:

1) Does she have to retake SAT1 to ensure that she will get NMF?
2) What is the process for being selected NMF?
3) What is her chance to get into BA/MA program at USC?

Question for NMF: Did you receive a NMF half tuition scholarship without the interview in your acceptance letter or is that coming in another letter? I heard you get the half tuition NMF scholarship with NMF and saying USC is your first choice. When does USC notify in writing about this to the accepted applicant?
