Hey guys, I posted my stats in here in hopes to transfer but I actually decided to attend UNCW instead of state. However I will post whether or not I get in so that it can benefit someone else. I honestly lost interest in state after having to wait so long for decisions (I knew when they were released but didn’t truly process how late it was). Good luck to you all!
Did anyone else get an email today about the goodnight scholars program?
Yeah man I got one around 2pm. Do you think that’s a good sign for our admission chances?
I received one as well. I think everyone gets one if you applied for a STEM major and has no effect on your admissions chances.
Can I ask what your stats were for those that received an invitation?
I was hopeful that I would receive an invitation, as it’s the only way I can afford NC State.
I self-nominated and fit into all the criteria:
<$60k income
3.92 GPA, almost all STEM
Chemistry major
Faculty-led research every semester @ CC
NC Resident
Will graduate with AA & AS in May
I never received an invitation nor link to my Wolfpaw account to see my checklist. However, I clicked on forgot password and then reset it and saw that they had one set up for me and they did but, I never got an email at all for my Wolfpaw account.
My stats are the first post in the thread. I looked into the requirements for an invitation, here’s a video I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhiVnVpTSeI
Hey guys! A little late to the party but would like to get an opinion on my stats:
Intended Major: Environmental Science
UNC Chapel Hill GPA: 1.83
Wake Tech GPA: 3.75
NC State Non-degree seeking courses GPA: 4.0
Extracurriculars:
-Internship with an environmental advocacy group
- volunteer at the mothers milk bank at the hospital
- Phi Theta Kappa membership
- Work 20 hours a week at a restaurant
I essentially did realllyyy sucky at Chapel Hill for 2 semesters. Dropped out and have been doing good in hard classes such as general chemistry, organic chemistry, calculus. Got denied for spring admission but hoping to get in this time around.
@Emberry Your stats sound pretty good except for the UNC GPA, what made you leave Chapel Hill? Was the course rigor just too difficult? I’m applying there too.
@chinamen It was definitely a more difficult course rigor than NC State or Wake Tech. But it was also a really poor environment for me, very competitive and affluent.
Just received an email from admissions asking for midterm grades. Is this a positive or negative thing? Also have they ever done anything like this before, I can’t find information about it online.
@Emberry Its positive if you have good midterm grades. It also means they are considering your application instead of automatically rejecting it. I do know NCSU sometimes waitlists students pending their spring grades but almost all of them get off the waitlist that do their part and keep their grades up.
@Emberry I would say it’s a positive thing. They noticed that your current GPA contrasts with your previous UNC GPA and would like to see if you’re still maintaining high grades as of this semester. Schools will definitely ask for midterm grades occasionally. It’s usually in circumstances where they feel like they need a bit more information before making a decision.
Edit: Also, as Starfoxx87 said, it means that they’re considering the possibility of admitting you rather than just rejecting you.
Hey guys! Can someone chance me? I am a freshman right now at Western Carolina University. I have a 3.8 GPA at Western on the 4.0 scale and a 4.03 at NC State on the 4.33 scale. I have 33 transferable credit hours as of the end of first semester. I am applying for the Computer Science major. I have taken all the required courses to be considered for minimum consideration as well. I am also on the Dean’s list. What do you guys think?
Correction: Computer engineering major
@westernkid1121 What extracurriculars have you included on your application?
@chinamen a lot of clubs from high school, college sports (not professional), jobs, volunteering, and certifications.
@chinamen I also did input leadership positions, and events that I led at nationals,
@westernkid1121 I think you’ll likely be fine!
Is computer engineering a competitive major, because I have been looking through a lot of resources and it did not say that it was a major lots of students go for at NCSU. Is this true?
