@westernkid1121 Not sure, though I know that comp sci is a competitive major. I would imagine related majors like computer engineering and other engineering majors are relatively competitive.
@chinamen I am so nervous cause I don’t have all 33 credits just yet, they will be done at the end of this semester and I am so scared they will reject me because of that
@westernkid1121 what NCSU did last year for some applicants is that they asked for their spring semester grades before coming to a decision.
Can’t wait for the Goodnight Scholarship Finalist announcement to be released by Friday! So excited and also for you all on your decisions!
@Starfoxx87 Yeah I heard that and its what scared me a lot because I already know that the college of engineering is so hard to get into and then having to wait another two months for being deferred would be really heard to do
@thelegitbrian You got this!!! Best of luck
I think all decisions will be released Friday (!), as NC State has a history of releasing transfer decisions on the Friday before the due date at 5pm. I also think maybe they won’t ask for end of semester grades, because they asked me for midterm grades instead. Perhaps corona is prompting them to seek out midterm grades rather the semester grades because it more properly reflects a student’s progress.
What do you think it means if they did not ask your midterm grades? I have not finished one of my required transfer courses yet but I am doing very well in it and have gotten 100s on my past two tests in math! But I am nervous I will not be accepted as I do not have a final grade for the class. Best of luck to everyone!
They will likely just defer your decision pending your spring grades. I know that is what they have done to a lot of students in the past.
I am not gonna lie, but reading this thread and the ones from years before have got me more anxious than ever.
Got into UNC today! Probably going to commit unless I somehow make it to NCSU Goodnight where it will be a tough decision. Hopefully, my spot will go to someone else more deserving if that is the case.
Quick question if anyone knows the answer. I was rejected instate from UNC but I just now noticed that my NC residency number expires on the 29th of this month and i’m not sure if that negatively impacted my decision for being considered for instate?
EDIT: Just realized I posted this in the wrong thread lol
Hey,
I’m super late, but what do yall think of my chances of getting admitted are? A little background about me, Last year, I applied to App, Wake Forest, UNCC, UNC, State, Tulane, UGA, VT, Kenyon, and Carleton. I got accepted into App, UNCC, VT, waitlisted at Kenyon, Carleton, Wake, UGA, & State (COE) and rejected at Tulane & UNC. I’m currently a freshman at App with 32 credit hours under my belt (including AP scores).
My biggest strength when applying from high school was my EC’s and ACT score (30). However, I haven’t really done much in college besides attending some club meetings and playing intramural sports. My biggest concern is coming from my senior year of high school. After I got waitlisted from almost every school I wanted to attend, my grades dipped completely (weighted Gpa dropped from a 4.28 to a 4.03). I went to a super competitive high school in Charlotte, and I guess I just burned out completely. after college decisions.
I applied to NC State as a psych major & I currently have a college GPA of 3.52 while taking 17 credits hours (premed track). I decided to apply to State, UGA, and UNC this year. I already got accepted into UGA and my UNC decision is still pending. I’m a little worried about my state application since I assumed that I didn’t have to send in my high school transcript. However, they requested the transcript since State doesn’t count my AP credits towards my college credit hours. I’m a bit concerned because NCSU is my number 1 option since I doubt I’m going to get into Carolina & UGA is way too expensive. What do yall think my chances are? I know my short essays were fairly good, but I don’t think this is going to have much of an impact in regards to my admissions chances.
TL;Dr. decent college GPA, terrible senior year grades
@utbole Have you completed all of NCSUs recommended classes to be competitive for your major. If you have those classes completed you’ll be considered competitive. Your GPA isn’t bad either. I’d say you have a decent shot at getting in.
Same exact situation for me! Excited to commit to UNC but if I get the goodnight scholarship it’ll be a very difficult decision.
@Emberry do you think they will hold decisions until the 15th because of Good Friday and Easter Monday?
@owlLena97 I actually might just explode into flames if they do that
@owlLena97 that would really suck. However I looked at twitter for the last four years and every decision, regular, early, and transfer were released on a Friday at 5-6 pm. So I’m thinking Friday
Does anyone think decisions could be released tomorrow?
Hey guys!! I know I’m super late to post on here, but oh well. I’m currently enrolled at a middle college high school in Charlotte and will be graduating with my Associates in Arts degree this May. I chose to apply as a transfer because I didn’t want to live in a dorm and various other reasons. I heard back from UNC yesterday and got waitlisted, so NC State is my top pick since I most likely will not be getting accepted to UNC.
My Stats:
3.4 GPA at Central Piedmont CC
Will have 64 credits by the end of this semester
Applying as a Biology in Arts major
I applied to 12 other schools (most as a freshman) and have been accepted to all of them even though that doesn’t matter at all haha
I feel like my essays were the strongest part of my application and had a cohesive theme overall. I reviewed the recommendations to be a competitive applicant and by the end of this semester I will have all of them except general chemistry 1 because I only chose to take the high school class until after I transfer. I took a very heavy course load every semester and took summer classes last year. Anyone want to tell me what my chances are of being accepted?
