We are supposed to get quite a lot in NJ, though mostly to the north and not right where I am (at the shore), where it is expected to just be more heavy rain and wind . My D is scheduled to fly out of EWR tomorrow - she just changed her flight to an earlier one to try to avoid delays (and also so I can avoid driving up there in the snow). I love snow and am dying for a cozy snowed in day - envious of those of you who are going to get it.
You would be welcome to mine! Clearing away snow is no fun. And I’m not into winter sports.
Snow means a tremendous amount of work on our farm. Horses stay warm by digesting hay, so in storms I put out at least double the normal amount. Yesterday we threw down 40 bales (each bale weighs about 40 pounds), and then moved it all next to the fields so as to have easy access.
I am on record on CC saying I. Do. Not. Like. Snow!!!
Well I feel for folks who must go out in this snow! I don’t! I’ll watch from my window…indoors
Humans stay warm by drinking bourbon. Yesterday I bought several solid bottles just in case.
I am on record saying I like any excuse to buy bourbon
As a recent birthday gift my partner got me a bottle of Vat 69 whiskey (mostly for sentimental reasons, though I do enjoy it). However, she failed to read the fine print, which was that they sold it in packs of 4 bottles. “Unfortunately.”
ETA: at the risk of being wrist-slapped for going OT, NO I am not excited for the snow. Unless I’m skiing on it, I don’t want it.
Candidate for CC post of the year
Nope. Not excited at all. I hate snow and the cold, but am an avid skiier (former college racer).
We are supposed to get a few hours of ice/freezing rain that will change over to just rain. This would all be fine except the freezing rain is supposed to start right at the time when I do my run. I’m hoping it will be delayed or at least start very light.
Older S/GF came into town on their way home last night. They leave tomorrow heading north for DC. They are waiting until it changes to rain before they leave and heading east first and heading up I-95. Theirs is supposed to be all rain I think.
We are supposed to get 8-12 inches. Yes I’m ready. No I am not excited. I really do not like snow.
Bring it on! We haven’t even gotten an inch snowfall yet in southern Maine, almost a record. Another approaching record is the number of days since the last 1” snowfall, almost 300 days. Ugh.
I think it’s going to be wet, with maybe some slush. I love snow. I hope we get a foot of it!
6 to 10 fluffy inches around Portland.
We are in the 6-12 inch range
Will be awaiting some photos of the snow and the hot chocolate after you shovel!
I think we escape basically all of this storm
5 to 8 inches, with rain mixing in----------great, the snowblower will be only marginally effective with the heavy wet stuff----grrrrrrr
I don’t like snow, but I don’t really care. I’ll just sit snugly in my house while I watch The Guys whom we’ve hired plow the driveway and shovel the walk. The thing I really hate is the leftover snow a few days from now that’s piled high and really dirty. Yuck.
Hopefully getting the shovels and ice out of the shed (that were t even put back there until May) will prevent a lot of snow (I believe in the jinx). My daughter’s flight from Florida lands at newark before noon tomorrow. Only I have 2 driving to SC on Monday so the timing could be worse.
The forecast has changed so many times here that I honestly have no idea when the snow is starting or how much we will eventually get. I guess we will wake up in the morning and find out.
