<p>We were going down to see our son on Saturday and we were wondering what were the nearest state parks that we could check out.</p>
<p>We have already cked out Allerton Park. It is nice , but I wanted to see another (I got the sense that my son has gone there with friends already).</p>
<p>Turkey Run State Park in Indiana is one hour straight east from Urbana, according to mapquest, and well worth a visit. They have some beautiful hiking trails, and as far as I know, they still have canoe trips there too if the weather is cooperative. Most scenic you’ll find within an hour of UIUC.</p>
<p>Thank you, astrophysicsmom. (Are you the one with D at Harvard?) We are a canoeing family and rarely think outside the state.</p>
