I would say Kenyon is an easy match, meaning you will most likely get in, however with Kenyon’s admissions these days, I don’t think it would be wise to consider Kenyon a “safety”. It is, however, safer than schools like Amherst and Carleton.

i know even if i apply to some state school there’s always .0001% chance that i won’t get in… nothing is 100% so if my chance at kenyon is 99%, i think i can consider it a safety?

saying that it’s easy to get in doesn’t mean it’s not a good school? in fact, if it’s not a good school i probably wouldn’t even think about applying there at the first place… i’m sure a lot of kids at kenyon didn’t get in their first choices like carleton, amherst or grinnell :X

I was just being cranky because I have to study for a biochem exam. I should have said don’t apply here unless you would go. The application has all of these little essays that are time consuming. What is your first choice school?

It definitely seems like you’ll get in, but I wouldn’t call it a safety. Just remember… Kenyon says interest level is very important, so if you just assume you’ll get in and don’t put time and effort into your application process, you will surely be rejected.

Kenyon is no longer “easy” to get into. They have taken 40% of 2010 class already through ED1 and ED2, which will make the RD admissions very competitive. In addition, the Board of Trustees has directed Admissions to DECREASE the incoming class size.

My best guess is that you will likely get in with those stats and some reasonable level of interest. But it is not as “safe” as your own state university.

How do you know they’ve taken 40% so far through ED? Any idea what the stats were (# applied, #accepted) or what the stats of the applicants were?

I am going to Kenyon for the class of 2010:) and they sent us a letter saying that 40% of our class has already been accepted and on top of that this year is their highest applicant pool ever

WOW, I can’t wait for the stats to come out for this year. ;)

And oh I guess, with the marked improvement in the quality-of-life at Kenyon (i.e. new athletic center, better food, baby-sitting and more dorms in the future…), I guess it will only attract more applicants to Kenyon!

wait…do u guys go to kenyon? the food is getting better?
i love kenyon but i am having issues with food here. I have not adjusted to the food at all and am mostly hungry if i dont order stuff. to be fair, i m a lil picky on food and tend to go hungry than eat what i dont like but i m certain the standard has degraded significantly from the beginning of the semester.
Yes, I am hungry right now as well!

hmm… chochu, but the menu online definitely looks yummy!!
Looks like the food didnt improve much despite having a change in the dining caterer and all the hypes about the food…

yeah, i dont see any such sweeping changes in the food…might just be me though.
You see, the problem is that I have not even looked at the menu but experienced that the food certainly hasnt lived up to my expectations. What is most interesting to note is the serious decline in quality from the beginning of the semester.
again, I AM HUNGRY!
