OK - so we don’t know more about you - ECs , etc. but I can say this - your budget is the first cut -
Do you qualify for need? Has your parent filled out the NPC. I put Emory’s NPC below.
Alas - Stanford and Cal Tech are high reaches.
Go to your hard Targets.
W&M is over $60K - how will you pay? They do have need aid but they don’t promise to meet need.
UT Austin is well over your max budget. How will you pay? They don’t meet need , nor rupport OOS kids.
UNC/UVA are over your budget - have you checked their net price calculator? THey are the two publics that promise to meet need.
U Mich - you have near zero chance of getting to budget - and it’s over $80K the last two years.
Tex A&M - unless you get the Brown Scholars - you can’t make budget. Same with UIUC, U Wash, and UMD - you can’ afford them. If you can’t afford them, then they’re beyond high reach.
OK - for the UCs, you need to do the 3 UC GPAs. @Gumbymom just posted their acceptance rates. Of course, your test won’t matter.
I don’t see you getting into Stanford and Cal Tech, but no pain no gain.
FSU and UGA are reaosonable as are W&M but that is not affordable.
I don’t see you getting into any other school (non UC) in your hard targets - except possibly Florida. Take your unweighted and add .5 for Honors and 1 for AP - and what’s your GPA. Their average GPA is a 4.4-4.6 (25/75) - so if you’re above 4.4, you have a better shot.
Safety - not all - you’ll get into all - but other than Kennesaw and GSU (do you need both??, here’s what I see:
UMN - a target if CE - and you’ll be in budget
Purdue, a target for math but reach for engineering - within budget
A&M - I’d not apply - budget -but you’d get in
Wisconsin - hard target to reach and not affordable
UIUC - hard target for path, reach for engineering and not affordable
OSU - possible with merit and likely
U Wash - hard target math, high high high reach for CS/CE (2% OOS rate) - and not affordable
UMD - reach - and not affordable.
See this for UCs - I’m guessing Davis is a target best case but @Gumbymom can help better.
If it were me, I’d focus on schools that can make budget!!
U of Alabama - you’d be $20K a year all in - it’s assured with auto merit.
U of Kansas - you’d be high $20s - it’s assured with automerit.
There are other auto merit schools - UAH, Ms State, and more.
I think UMN is a good choice - and you have - it will be high $30s with merit. But is not assured.
So check the prviates - Stanford, Cal Tech for affordability - your family needs to do the NPCs.
Make sure you include colleges, and they’re solid, that are assured for admission and cost (Bama, UAH, Ms State, Kansas, Iowa State, Kansas State, etc)
Include schools that “could” make #s - such as UMN, Ohio State
Eliminate schools that won’t make merit. To me that’s W&M although they do have need aid but certainly UT Austin, U Mich, Ga Tech (close but not at your max budget), A&M, UIUC, Washington and Maryland
You might consider SMU too - for your subjects - and they have the Presidential scholarship.
You might also add some California State schools - SDSU, Long Beach State, CPSLO, CPP, etc.
Hope that helps.
