Thank you!

No specific suggestion, but you may find this article interesting. (Note that Brown is no longer test optional and you would likely need a higher score)

The first question is - what will a school say you can afford?

For example, have your family run a “Net Price Calculator” for a meets need school - such as Boston U and/or Georgetown.

You say under $20K - which will be an issue - unless a college determines you have financial need. And if you do, how much are they willing to cover? Only certain schools meet 100% of need.

Also, what is your home state - because to hit that price, it’s likely you’ll need to apply to a local school - although there are a few, likely down south and not urban, that may get you there.

Can you commute? Community college and transfer? That is a difficult budget. Many we know with grad school aspirations commute or start at community college.

Maybe run net price calculator at University of Vermont, see if eligible for scholarships

“#### Prospective Undergraduate Students

UVM awards scholarships based on a variety of factors, including academic achievement, leadership, geographic location, and field of study. Many of these scholarships have the opportunity to be renewed (based on eligibility) for each of your academic years.”

Are you looking for a big state school with sports and all the rah rah? Urban campus or traditional campus feel? Weather considerations?

Open to any kind of campus. No preference on weather.

Could be Rah or could be traditional - very flexible!

Yes!

Thank you!

Will look! It’s on the list!

We do Seem to be qualify for aid based on NPC’s, but prices are between 23 and 33.

Kiddo wants to ideally start right away, but if not, we’ll be open to community college and then transfer option.

Upon reading the article again, it sounds like the Ultimate Frisbee A team actually does not work with Admissions to recruit?

Let’s start with your state - what is your home state?

In general, schools that will hit price - are the NC Promise Schools for sure - there are four - but West Carolina is the most “typical.” The others are Fayetteville State, Elizabeth City State and UNC Pembroke I believe.

With his stats, MS State will be under $20K. U of Alabama will be low 20s…but get the SAT up 20 points and you’re at $20K. They have a huge OOS pull - tons from the NE and midwest (over 1500 from Illinois as an example and 2K from the NY/NJ/CT area…why…because they buy kids like yours in.

UAH - Alabama Huntsville - a more regional school - low 20s - about 10K kids.

A U Maine could be - as could some of the SUNYs.

Tell us your state of residence and that will help a lot.

It is still worth reaching out and knowing how you’d fit into the team and culture when you are checking out schools. Regardless, the point is don’t assume that there is no such thing as recruiting of any form just because its not a varsity sport. Most people don’t think to look into this.
