I have an iPad (actually iPad 2) and am pretty conversant with all it can do, but have never tried to watch a movie / tv show on it (aside from YouTube videos).

I’d like to try to get a hold of some old tv shows (most notably SCTV and The Kids in the Hall comedy series) - but I don’t want to buy DVDs and I’d like to get them through Netflix for the iPad and rent them. I have never done Netflix and don’t know how to go about this. Any hints / tips on how to go about doing this? Whenever I try to go to the Netflix site on my iPad, it just asks me to sign up but I can’t get past that screen in any way!

Netflix was having problems a couple days ago, although I used it yesterday.
Have you tried signing up on another computer?

I signed up for Netflix using my Android Tablet a couple of weeks ago.

After problem-free viewing for about a week, the icons stopped working and the screen stopped scrolling. Alternatively, I tried to login on the PC and still no luck. Finally called Netflix customer service and they patiently helped resolve the problem. They had me delete the original app, re-install, and then they re-set my password and…abra kadabra everything works smoothly.

I use Netflix on my IPAD regularly. Easy-peasy. My only complaint is that their library for streaming is extremely limited. I’ve basically run out of things to watch.

Hmmm, isnt the problem that you arent using the Netflix app? You can go to the netflix.com web site from browser but it needs silverlight so its not going to work through the ipad browser.

I agree with the poster above. Use the netflix app. I have an old iPad 1 and it works great.

Amazon prime has an app, as does Netflix, Hulu, PBS,ABC, NBC, imdb, and practically anything else you can think of.
I use the Netflix & Hulu apps all the time.
But you should also be able to use the browser to change settingfs for your netflix acct. I changed from Dvds + streaming to just streaming. I rarely use my laptop anymore/ watch dvds.

Go to the itunes app already loaded on your ipad and download the app. I believe you can sign up through the app. There are 3 subscription types, one for just streaming on your device, one for just DVD’s and one for both. I watch Netflix on my ipads frequently. It’s great. I hope this helps.

Beware that in some situations video may cost you extra money by overrunning dataplan.

Thanks, argbargy - I think that is the problem. Can I “buy” / subscribe to Netflix it off my laptop and then just sign in using the netflix app on the iPad?

Yes, you can sign in using the app on your iphone or ipad.
