^^^Jannell

Janelle was eliminated last night. I liked the performance of Amber and the girl who looks like a combination of Marie Osmond and Hannah Montana.

Not a good first round for my two favorites-- Candice and Kree. Hoping they nail their second songs because I don’t want to see either one go home. Not a great time in the competition to pick the wrong song. I eventually didn’t love their song choices in either round.

What was up with Nicki tonight? Too much anger towards Kree with her first song and then with her duet with Amber. Then after Candice’s round two song, she starts defending her praise of Amber during Candice’s air time! I didn’t think Amber’s performance of “MacArthur Park” was all that great and either did Jimmy I! I was so glad to hear Jimmy come to Candice’s defense when he came on stage. (Nicki didn’t even get Amber’s name right after her MacArthur Park song, calling her “Angie” the first time she used her name.)

If Kree goes home Thursday she’ll get the last laugh when she “outsells” all the other finalists… combined.

I wonder what the “surprise twist” is going to be during the results show on Thursday?

I just wish we could vote Nikki off. I mute the sound when she comes on, but eventually I just have to turn it off. If you judge by Nikki, there’s proof talent isn’t needed for a career. But all these women have talent, I hope they will have good careers. Maybe Candace will win, she is spectacular.

Yes, Nikki is getting on my nerves, I don’t even want to listen to her anymore. She is so excited by how Amber looks that she can’t even get a critique straight. I think Amber is amazing when she does Whitney or Celine, but the MacArthur Park song was pretty lame. Krees problem is that she started out at such a high level, it’s not that exciting when someone doesn’t improve that much. I have always thought she was excellent, but not that exciting of a performer though.

I hope people don’t vote Candace off because of her first song. They really need to pick current hits, I think.

Maybe the surprise twist is that, since they did not use their save, noboby will go home this week.

I am impressed by Amber’s range. There were some really low notes in MacArthur Park. And she does look like a star. Kree’s song choices did not do her justice. Still, these top four are better than many of the previous winners, whose names I forget, which is my point.

I think no one will go home - at least not traditionally, this week.

I’m the oddball I guess - I MOST of the time really appreciate Nikki and feel that she and Keith especially -know that it takes more than a good voice to be a success in the business. While they have great voices, I personally find both Candace and Kree to be boring and flat in personality. Totally predictable. Not really versatile.

I love Amber. I find her to be the best total package on that stage. Great voice, current, likeable easy personality, versatile in genres, easy to look at, etc. Angie is a close second for me. For me, they ENTERTAIN. Candace and Kree can definitely sing, but they are predictable - in song choice and in their look each week. There has to be somewhat of an “it” factor.

I figure Nikki was tough on Kree either to put some fire under her feet (did she peak too soon?) or to get her fans riled up to vote for her since she was in the bottom two last week.

Ok, I’ve decided what I think the twist is going to be. Since the top 4 are “all that” according to the show, I think no one will be eliminated tonight and ALL 4 will get to have a hometown visit - and then they will take it from there. NO WAY do they want to risk one of these people not getting a hometown visit.

That’s my guess.

Huh. I thought she really strained to hit those low notes, and that long-held high note was screechy and totally sharp. I find Amber to be perfectly ordinary–if not for her face and body, Jimmy wouldn’t be pushing her at all. But I understand that a hot chick is what Idol thinks will sell, so they’re pulling out all the stops for Amber. As far as her personality is concerned, well, she smiles a lot, but I can’t say I’ve seen much more. None of the top four is witty or bubbly or engaging, and none has much in the way of performance skills. The show has gotten terribly dull, Idol’s refusal to pay up for the rights to current music means the song choices are deadly, and no amount of judge re-shuffling will reverse the continued decline in ratings. (I had to laugh at the rumor that Jennifer Lopez had been asked to return to save the show–she was a horrid judge.)

^ I hope that you are right. I like all of the final 4. Based on yesterday, I would put Kree in the bottom but I just think she had a bad night with song selections. The judges seem to have picked Amber as their winner. She’s a great singer and will be the “commercial” singer that may bring in the bucks but she isn’t connecting with a lot of people. She’s been in the bottom a few times.

Angie has grown on me over the last few weeks. She has the looks and I love her on the piano. She’s not as great when she’s not. My final three would be Candace, Kree and Angie. Amber will have a great career w/ or w/o idol.

^I agree with most of what MommaJ and CookieMonster said:

I feel like the judges are overcompensating with their praise of Amber to keep her out of the bottom 2. Angie probably could be considered the front-runner, but I don’t see her winning unless she comes up with a killer original song of her own. My scorecard would read as follows: 1) Kree, 2) Candice 3) Angie and 4) Amber.

I gave Kree all 50 of my votes last night because I definitely do not want to see her go home tonight!

I think the judges want Kree to go home, and that’s why they were so hard on her last night.

Jimmy rarely says anything helpful, and it is unusual for any of the judges to agree with him. When contestants take his advice, they are most often panned by the judges. It’s hard to imagine how he got his position.

This is such a boring season. I only watched half of the show last night before turning it off, and I’m not sure I’ve ever done that in the past eight or so years that I’ve watched AI.

I also am in the minority and like Nikki’s comments. It provides variety and comedic relief. This comes from someone that really disliked her after her performance at the Super Bowl a few years ago. Mariah bores me, and I click through her comments. Randy’s vary little. Keith is sometimes interesting.

I suspect that they will do the bottom two, but the twist is that no one will go home. They need to have a non-elimination week based upon the number of shows left.

Does your calculation take into account the fundraising week they do called “Idol gives back?”

I think the majority of posters on this thread like Nicki. I know I do. I just didn’t like her this week.

They don’t do “idol gives back” anymore.

I thought Keith was spot on last night. And I LOVE jimmy! Wish he was on the judges panel! Different strokes!

Well that wasn’t too much of a twist. Ho-hum.

Candace sure has had a lot of “special guests” surprise her on the show hasn’t she??? Her mayor, Paula Abdul, Drake - someone else I think.

And the Jimmy drama (rolling eyes)…

Wasnt Lee a bit “Mumford and Sons” Last night?

Yes, Lee seemed very Mumford/Lumineers, etc. guess he wants to cash in on the fad

‘surprise’ no - elimination was pretty no-hum indeed. I was just remarking to H before the show that the season seemed to be winding up a bit early. I guess this was their way of staying on until SYTYCD starts up.

Amber acted like she has already been told she is going home. That was kinda awkward.

I thought they were rougher on Angie than Amber. Not sure why she was so upset.

The judges all hated the advice that the “guest” (didn’t know him - Harry-something?) gave the girls. Didn’t seem fair of them to penalize them for following his advice!
