I’m on west coast time, so no ideas. I’ll stop reading the thread till I find out the results, but I hope it’s Lazaro to go. It’s really not fair that he keeps on while other people get dropped.

.

Let me tell you, if anyone has ever sung for a save and had an audience behind him, it was Devin. Honestly, the judges looked BAD not using it then. Ryan seemed truly surprised.

Mariah - that was genuine emotion watching Devin.

He has been in the bottom ALOT, but still sorry to see him go.

You know, tonight I am predicting an all girl top 4 or 5 and that the ratings for the last few weeks of the show will plummet. No guys to vote for is going to lose viewership.

Also the powers that be may regret the “girls rule” mentality cause the lack of boys may keep Lazaro in the vote and going on forever like the Energizer bunny.

Yeah, I’m disappointed. He sang his butt off, and they should have used the save. Ryan seemed shocked. I was really hoping Lazaro was outta there, but jeez, we may be seeing him in the finals at this rate.

I am very disappointed in the results, but not surprised. Although the last couple of weeks haven’t been his best, Devin really touched me earlier in the competition and I like him. I really thought the judges would use their save. It appears that Nicki may have been the dissenting vote since the other three gave him a standing O.

Boo … I was really getting attached to Devin and his save song was outstanding. But, at least he went out on a strong note.

I’ve loved Candice as my first choice from the first we saw her, but Janelle came to my second place this week. She has been my biggest climber.

The moment I heard Devin’s song choice, I told DH that Devin is in huge trouble. AI competitors need to think twice before taking on a song that Adam Lambert did so well. Although Devin is a wonderful singer, those voters who have heard both renditions saw Devin’s as being so weak in comparison. IMHO, I think that hurt him a lot in votes. Bad song choice strategy!

^DDHM, re. Janelle being the “biggest climber”… I completely agree!

Strange Idol night tonight. No one watching?

For me, rock week wasn’t too rock-solid, except for Amber and Angie’s performances.

I watched. Hard to imagine any of these contestants becoming truly successful–though I would have said the same about Phil Phillips, so what do I know? I find that Amber goes sharp on a lot of notes–it was especially apparent in the trio–but she’s pretty and sexy and her voice is certainly no worse than a bunch of today’s female singers who are heavily autotuned, so I can see why the judges are behind her. I’m sure nobody wants to follow in the footsteps of the judging panel that was responsible for Lee DeWyze, so they’re backing the marketable choice. I think Janelle may be the dark horse in this race. She sings well enough, has tons of charisma, and has made some interesting musical choices–it’s always nice when a contestant shows some chops for selecting songs and arrangements. I love Candice, but don’t see her as Idol material. Kree bores me, and I was pained by her yelly version of “Piece of my Heart”. The rest don’t interest me at all. Pretty meh season all in all. Not a real original in the bunch.

Okay, now I’m just tickled to see Lazaro finish in the top 3. If AI isn’t going to offer me great singing, at least it can provide great humor.

I actually really like all of the girls, I would be fine with any one of them winning, as I’ve heard all of them do phenomenally with the right song…rock and roll is not good for any of them.

Yuck, Lazaro has screwed up so many times, he ought to be outta there. He shouldn’t have even made it past Hollywood, he is off so much. At this point I really don’t care about personality or sympathy, I want to see performances that don’t make me cringe. Even something that makes me want to replay it. Now if I save it for further viewing, THAT’s a great performance.

I never liked Phil Phillips, I didn’t get it one bit. But he’s had some major hits, which goes to show you how well they can do with the right music.

I think some of the other contestants looked a little miffed when they announced Lazaro was safe, knowing that a more talented person would be going home. And when Burnell was singing, and went over to the other contestants at the end of his song, it looked like he was staring down Lazaro before he looked at Candice and Amber. I don’t have DVR so I only get to see it once, but that’s what it looked like to me. Or maybe that’s the way I felt it should go. Lazaro really shouldn’t have been in the top 12 in the first place.

And I did not remember Casey James being such a good guitar player. Glad that he’s making a go of it.

^^I remember that he was great on the instruments, and a really talented singer. But I kept getting distracted by that weird ponytail and funky beard, so it was much better when I didn’t look at the screen. Picky, picky!

It’s a pretty mediocre season. I typically go for the underdog that is entertaining and a bit different so I was pretty disappointed with Burnell’s last place finish. It’s been so apparent since the beginning of the season that AI has decided a girl must win this year, and the girls are all a bit boring in my opinion. It’s not that they have bad voices. They just don’t entertain me in an original way. I feel like I’ve seen them all before. This applies to Lazaro also.

For me, Devin and Burnell were just different enough to be interesting. If I miss the rest of the season or a few shows, I won’t be rushing to the DVR to catch up.

musicmom–I too noticed the “look” at Lazaro. Because of the camera angle I wasn’t sure if he was looking at Lazaro or Candice.

I didn’t notice “the look” by Burnell but I did notice Lazaro’s successful attempt at not making eye contact. I assumed that it was because it allowed him, unlike most of the ladies, to hold back his tears.

If Lazaro is not the lowest vote-getter next week, the judges may finally use that one save of theirs.

Darn, I think I’m going to miss AI tonite, at least the first half. Plus I don’t think I set my DVR for it. I’m hoping someone here can give me an update on how everything went. I would appreciate it!

I’ll take a wild guess and predict that Lazaro is the worst by far, and forgets some of his words. His excuse will be that he just heard the song for the first time three days ago…though they’ll still manage to find something positive to say. I’m also betting that he doesn’t get voted out tomorrow.

busdriver11, I think you’ve got it right. Probably none of us need to watch. This is the most boring and predictable year ever. For the first time I don’t have any favorite at all.

wow. Candice. I didn’t want her song to end.

But Lazaro. omg. Please get him out of there.
