As I said, the only explanation is she gave some “favors” to Simon backstage. Nothing else explains what the judges see in her.

I wish Alexis Grace had made it-she was quite good.

I could be way off base, but I think Megan, knowing she can’t sing, tries so utterly hard to have some kind of unique “style”, fails miserably and this is the result. Like someone once told her “you sound like (insert someone famous) when you sing like that” and she ran with it. No way she’d have gotten that far if she looked like Phyllis Diller. Maybe the tattoos were a plus too, I don’t know.

Another standout, in a bad way, was Matt. Talk about flat, and pitchy. I’m sorry, I don’t think he can pull off the hat thing either. Just not cool enough.

Funny comment I heard at work today…Gene Simmons sticks his tongue out these days so the denture won’t slip!

Hey, you know, some of us actually like the way Megan sings :)

She definitely is very amateur and untrained I admit, but all those problems are fixable. You can’t fix uninteresting, which frankly is the problem with at least half of the contestants from the top 36 (and possibly more)

Plus, she got stuck (or chose? hard to believe) with an incredibly bad song for the finale.

And it’s subjective on top of that. Personally, I really couldn’t stand Lil Rounds.

Technique is fixable. Danny is fixable as is Allison. They seem to have good ears, but have technique flaws that present that gravelly sound that is interesting to many but is not sustainable for most singers. Danny uses it to compensate for a very limited upper range. Not having an ear is really hard to fix. I fear that Megan is a bit tone deaf, as is Matt.

Because the “Vote for the Worst” website was campaigning for people to vote for Megan.

[Megan Joy | Vote for the Worst](http://votefortheworst.com/tags/megan_joy?page=2)

wow…this thread is way worse then the one at the AI website, lol.

no comment…except that I like Kris better!! Adam was too theatrical …and such an obvoius choice. I didn’t even vote this year…cause either one of them would be ok for me. I think it is really petty BS that glamfans are hating Kris so much…lol…but

i think this is exactly what AI was hoping for!!! They are a HUGE money making machine…geared to making MO’ $$$…do we all think that this contraversay is hurting or helping? LOL…uhh…we are still talking about it!! it is helping!!

for me…I think we are alll stupid sheep…AI is playing everyone. They got the winner they wanted from the start…adam will soar…blah blah…all is right with the world

I have a really hard time believing that the “vote for the worst” site has any significant impact on the outcome of the competition.

For one, it certainly didn’t help any of the other people that VFTW voted for. Out of their 9 picks, 5 of them went home the first week they picked them, and another two (Lil and Danny) went home after 2 weeks. Yes, Kris won, but that was because his fans were so organized, not because some joke website told everyone to.

According to the video interview of Kris Allen on “Access Hollywood” the final vote wasn’t even close.

Adam fans you have to stop the bitterness - it’s not good.

Kris compelled - Adam didn’t.

So what if teenage girls or Arkansans voted repeatedly. More power to 'em they enjoyed success.

I’m not seeing a whole lot of bitterness here - are you guys reading another forum and then posting here? I really like Kris - I voted for him all the way up to the end but, in the end, found Adam more interesting. I think Kris is adorable and I hope he is very successful.

I thought the labeling and judgement of Kris voters as homophobic and/or racist was rough.

“Not having an ear is really hard to fix. I fear that Megan is a bit tone deaf”

Amen. I fear that I’ll have to listen to Megan in the future. Breath support, control, even screechiness can be improved with training. If an adult can’t hear the kind of intervals she misses, no one but God can teach her.

I agree with cartera45-- I don’t sense too much bitterness either. Adam and Kris both seem perfectly happy with their new roles and quite friendly with one another. I think a year of wearing the #1 Idol crown and being led around by the nose would have driven Adam crazy. Kris seems much more pliable.

A light-hearted analysis from today’s paper:

[Kris Allen voted winner of ‘American Idol’ :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Paige Wiser](http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/wiser/1584725,CST-FTR-idol21.article)

Have to disagree with you on Adam being the obvious choice. I knew from Day 1 that despite his incredible talent, he’d be way too scary for many AI voters. Are you kidding? A flamboyant, possibly gay or bi-guy, who wore makeup, sang falsetto, and pranced around the stage like a theatrical superstar? Does anyone honestly think the millions of teenaged girls out there would vote for Adam over Kris–the cute, sweet, clean-cut, hetero church music leader? C’mon. Kris is talented … but booooooooooooooring. Adam is talented as well as extremely fun and interesting to watch. In my humble opinion. :)

Watch the interviews on the TV guide channel that were done right after the results finale. Both Kris and Adam are humble and complimentary of each other. Adam in no way complains and is thrilled to have had the opportunity. He also makes clear that he does not want to do theater. He was a working singer, but his lifelong goal is to be a solo artist. He said the difference for him is to “play” Adam rather than a character someone else wrote. Obviously he has felt constrained in theater roles and wants to express himself with his own interpretations. People on here have complained he is phony, but he talks about his desire to express the song and uses his various personas and costumes to do that. He packages each song. Also if you watch the interviews, listen to Adam’s sweet message to the fans. I admit, I feel maternally protective of Adam. He has an artist’s sensitive soul and has lived a life of not fitting in. I am very happy he has “felt the love” over the course of the Idol season. As for the teeny boppers it must be the younger end. My son, who never watches Idol, reported to me that when he checked his Facebook the day after the results, there were status messages from many many many of his friends expressing disappointment that Adam had not won. His friends are mostly 17 - 20 years old. I, on the other hand, as I said before the results, am glad he did not win and is not saddled with that terrible song. He will have much more freedom, but he is contractually obligated to wait until after the winner releases his album before he can release his.

Kris may be boring to grown-ups, but not to those teen gals (mine anyway). I liken it to the way our food tastes change as we age: As a girl, I would have chosen a grilled cheese sandwich over lamb tortellini with saut

This demonstrates why we usually don’t let 12-year-old girls decide issues of actual significance to anyone.

“Kris compelled. Adam didn’t.”

Adam compelled me to actually watch the show again, after giving the past three seasons an almost complete pass. (Open secret: hardly anyone on the show ever is talented and charismatic enough to sustain a career as a pop music singer outside the context of the show.) I couldn’t ever remember Kris’s name until two weeks ago, and it was only after the guy with the hat got kicked off that I could tell Kris and him apart. Kris is perfectly nice, is a lovely singer, and completely a dime a dozen.

I saw an interview online done by a reporter with the Wisconsin Fox affiliate. The reporter told Adam that he was “so cool.” Adam said that he was not cool at all and he thought it was funny people saw him that way. He said he had been a total nerd all of his life and he wanted to be an inspiration to the nerds of the world - to those kids who are different and feel they will never fit in. I think it is the memory of not being accepted - most likely being teased - that brings the vulnerability out in his songs. Some describe him as cocky but I don’t see any of that in his interviews.

The reporter also asks him about guyliner and if he had ever heard that term before - duh - that was a little awkward. Adam just said he likes the way it looks. When they went back to the studio, the anchor said as the segment was ending, “Can you believe she asked Adam about guyliner?”

cartera45 - It’s true that Adam is loved by so many of the teens that feel they are different. Both of my DDs think Adam is the greatest. We are a big musical theatre family and when oldest DD first heard Adam on AI and found out he had been in Wicked in LA she went to find that Playbill. She always writes sticky notes and puts them in her playbills after seeing shows and when she found this one there was one it was Adam playing Fieryo at the performance and her sticky said somethng like “understudy for Fieryo was fantastic!”

I don’t think anyone here has said terrible things about Kris. We also liked Kris and think he will do fine in the future. Kris needed this win much more than Adam did. For us it was just so nice to see someone as talented as Adam have that talent recoginzed on TV every week. We have seen many Broadway shows and have seen crazy, talented singers and actors that do not get this kind of recognition and who should!

Hi all. I’ve been traveling all week and having to adjust to the west coast when I am usually east coast. But you all kept me up on what was going on. Thanks to everyone. See you next year. And agree - at least Adam does not have to sing THAT song.
