New American Idol thread

One of the criticisms of Kris early on by the judges was that he was too nice, helping other contestants with their performances.

I don’t know if they are all friendly or not. Some of them obviously are, but when one of the top 10 says things like “Where I come from, you are either in the closet or you are dead.” you have to wonder how friendly they really are.

Who said that?

Yes, who said that and when?

I’m not surprised they are all 100% friendly to each other in public. It is one of the first things that their handlers will tell them - do not under any circumstances, speak negatively of any of the other contestants. Ever.

Because the tabloids and pseudo-tabloid shows like TMZ, entertainment tonight will take it and run with it, and they care zilch about the contestants or the show, and they will make everyone involved look bad.

I’ve read about that in a couple of places and it was Michael Sarver who said it, apparently.

I turned off the TV just before Michael Sarver and Megan came on. They were my least favorites and I did not have any interest in whatever they had to say.

Just to clarify, I have read that Michael Sarver made the comment but I don’t know if it was on Larry King’s show that he said it.

Change of subject
here is the latest susan boyle clip.

Don’t know whether this has been posted yet, but it’s well worth a listen

Deja vu all over again  Constantine was on the Today show in his role on Broadway with Rock of Ages. I had not seen the show yet and was traveling when he was nominated for a Tony -Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. Another non-finalist getting recognition.

Constantine has been doing professional theatre for many years, including before he was on Idol, in addition to touring with his band performing his own music.

Finally downloaded Adam’s AI performances album from I tunes. 12 songs for $9.99. I love it. Thankfully it does not include “No Boundaries.”
I hope he does not join Queen, officially. He needs to express his own artistry with a solo cd or with his own band.

Take a listen to Adam’s studio version of No Boundaries, it’s posted on YouTube and is pretty good. :)

Kris had to sing “that song” this morning on the Today show concert series. DH works in close proximity and said he could hear lots of shrieking.

When I heard Kris sing it on AI, I had the same reaction :D

Well this is an interesting turn of events…

Back to Glee, I was sent some information tonight that, if true, could be quite fascinating. Apparently, the show choir director for one of the show choirs in California has editing rights for the Glee script. This director was the director of the show choir at our high school several years ago and supposedly he is basing it on our high school when he first arrived. Gotta tell you, though, I’d have a hard time trying to figure out which character is supposed to be representing which ‘real’ person at our school, although some of the staff members I could see. However, as far as I know, we’ve NEVER had anyone in a wheelchair in our show choir.

teri, what do you mean by “editing rights”? I know that the bulk of the writing is being done by Ryan Murphy himself, and he has a couple of his colleagues assisting him. I can’t imagine that they’d be extending creative license in the writing process to someone who is not a writer. Maybe as a technical advisor? If that’s the case, it’s pretty unlikely that this man would have much influence on character development.

alwaysamom - I’m just basically repeating what I was sent. I do know that some of the shots from the pilot were done at this director’s current high school (of course they would be, they are in close proximity to the high school). I’ve been trying to do some research via other avenues to get this clarified, and I can confirm (through the director himself) that he and his group were heavily involved in the pilot, although their dancing was cut (but not the vocals). I’ve even read that indeed, somewhere, there was a show choir that had a student in a wheelchair (just obviously not at our school). Perhaps the editing rights were just for the scenes his students were in (which were eventually cut), I don’t know. I do know that our high school was the first show choir he ever directed before moving out to California.

I also know that one of the writers of the show was in show choir in high school at one of our closest rival schools (about 20 minutes down the road), so there is certainly some networking going on amongst show choir directors. It’s just a matter of finding out who has what official title at this point.
