New article published today regarding use of artificial intelligence (AI) for Valuations. This is an opinion piece written by a well qualified, experienced CPA, who is acknowledged as a leading scholar on Valuations, but appears to be an unedited work product (too repetitive) which contains incorrect, or, at best, confusing statements which could have been clarified by use of a simple AI program. Nevertheless, the article contains useful information and insights.
I fear that people expect AI to do more than it is capable of doing, while people do not really understand how it works.

While the opinion piece is well written and informative, I do not understand an assertion made in the fourth paragraph from the bottom of the writing which reads:
“But valuation is not a technical issue, it is a strategic one.”
The above quoted statement seems incorrect, while also appearing to contradict the writer’s main points in the rest of his published opinion. What am I not understanding as valuation is mostly a technical issue and strategy enables bias to be inserted into a valuation ?

Another concern is raised by a statement in the concluding paragraph which reads:
“…better technology will simply produce faster answers to the wrong questions.”
Based on the opinion writer’s analysis in his published opinion, wouldn’t it be more consistent and accurate to have written:
“…better technology will simply produce faster answers built on incomplete and unreliable data.”
I asked AI questions based on my concerns shared above regarding this writing; the AI responses were thorough and satisfying.
My AI inquiries were:
“Is valuation of a company a technical issue or a strategic issue ?”
“When using AI to value a company, will better technology, such as AI, simply produce faster answers to the wrong questions ?”
Undoubtedly the article was written by AI in the first place.

Interesting thought because the concluding paragraphs were a bit repetitive and contained conclusions somewhat inconsistent with the majority of the opinion piece, portions of the article may have been AI generated, while the concluding paragraphs were produced by the writer, thus explaining the inconsistencies.
