New Details in the Zimmerman-Martin Controversy

As soon as you quit claiming it…

And actually if you’ll read my last post there is no comment about race in it.

hopscout-

Do you have no answer to this?

Now wait a second. On one hand people are b******* because “there was no investigation” but then you turn right back around and b****** because when the guy was taken to the police station he “showed no bodily harm?” Which is it?

okay, no answer.

thanks.

Some people choose not to speculate… it really works better that way sometimes… maybe you could try it once?

Just for an fyi - my D’s nose was broken by a heavy slamming door and it did not bleed. It resulted in a small bruise and bump even though it resulted in a completely blocked nasal cavity (deviated septum) requiring corrective surgery.

^ Hey Waterloo, at the risk of slandering a really good movie script, here’s the answer to all your questions :

“Investigation? We ain’t got no investigation. We don’t need no stink’n investigation.”

“As for the Zimmerman case. I cannot believe any law enforcement agency is this messed up…there has to be something major they are not telling us.”

I pray that you are right. (There is a history to this particular agency.)

An article by the Orlando Sentinel says both Trayvon and Z’s clothes were taken for evidence processing.

Another place I saw that there was a paramedic named Brady at the scene who pronounced Trayvon dead. I also read that some (medical/paramedic/?) assistence was offered Z at the scene.

The police report contained a mention that Z said he had been on the ground on his back and that the jacket Z had on had wet spots and grass on it consistent with that assertion.

If the clothes were collected, that may give a better picture of who was where and how far apart, etc. If Trayvon was on top of Z beating the back of his head into the ground, the distance between the muzzle and Trayvon would have been inches and I think the entrance and exit wounds would reflect that.

Does anyone know what the time lag was between the shooting and Z’s arrival at the police station? I thought I read it was more than an hour. Anyone recall.

Clearly “stand your ground” can cover a lot of “cowboy” acts.

Works better for who?

According to cbs news, the police department did conduct an investigation:

[Trayvon Martin killing investigation starts over - CBS News](http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505263_162-57405671/trayvon-martin-killing-investigation-starts-over/)

07DAD - Forensics testing? That’s asking a lot from a police force that couldn’t be bothered to identify the victim.

I hope this is sarcasm…because if it is not…it shows an appalling lack of critical thinking/analysis.

Anyone with a potential interest in an outcome for a particular side in a given incident…especially a parent of the shooter/alleged killer Zimmerman cannot by definition or good commonsense…be “unbiased”.

In many ways…the above statement made resembles the denialism many parents have when their children are accused of wrongdoing. In short, when looking for the truth…take the words of the perp’s parents/family/friends with a huge barrel of salt.

As for more cases of lack of common sense…I can’t believe how many people believe that Zimmerman’s actions can stand up to SYG considering how we have a 911 call where it is clear he ignored the dispatcher’s instructions to not follow Martin. We also know from statements by the National Neighborhood Watch association that Zimmerman violated their guidelines by that action and for being armed…possible reasons why his neighborhood watch association isn’t associated with them. If one takes a common sense perspective to examine all of the above with the understanding that Zimmerman was not a uniformed law enforcement officer and was following Martin who IME as a NYC kid…could have taken Zimmerman to be a late night stalker on the street aiming to harm him…it is reasonable to surmise that at the very least…Zimmerman was a cowboy looking for trouble.

SYG laws aren’t meant to protect someone who instigates or acts in ways which a reasonable person should have known would have instigated an incident.

More importantly…if he tried following someone the way he did late night in NYC and the one being followed feels threatened…Zimmerman could have been brought up on stalking charges and sanctioned accordingly…especially considering he’s not a law enforcement official and there was no way for the followed to know whether he was neighborhood watch or a stalker out to harm him in some way.

I’m pretty sure that was a joke. ;)

“They also discovered Zimmerman had two prior arrests: one for assaulting a cop, the other for domestic abuse.”

Some outlets are claiming three arrests … one a felony:
[RollingOut Outlet Reports that Zimmerman, Son of a Retired Judge, Had Three Closed Arrests](http://latinorebels.com/2012/03/27/rollingout-outlet-reports-that-zimmerman-son-of-a-retired-judge-had-three-closed-arrests-and/)

^^ It was intended as sarcasm. But it also shows an appalling lack of insight and reason by a man who was once a Judge. He’d have helped his son’s cause better had he simply said “I discussed the incident with George, and I now understand how event degraded into this truly lamentable conclusion. I’m sure the public will see George differently when the police and coroner’s reports are made public … which I hope is soon.”

I thought so…but wanted to check. :D

As for Zimmerman’s father…keep in mind that even having a law degree from a topflight law school doesn’t necessarily mean its possessor has good common sense.* Heck…considering some areas of the country elect judges without having stringent educational requirements…one can be elected judge without a law degree…or sometimes…especially in the past…any higher-ed degree for that matter.

Knew of a few lawyers from T-14 schools who were fired shortly after being hired for openly talking about confidential cases they were working on in public institutions and being overheard by partners, other associates, and paralegals/staff. Seems like they forgot the professional obligation lectures in law school and in employee orientation about how maintaining client confidentiality is one of their basic duties in the profession…and shouldn’t be violated in vast majority of cases…especially not from idle gossiping carelessness.

Sure. geeps, what would your reaction be if the exact same incident occured with two black men? With two white men? Because I’d still be horrified.

I see what CBS “has pieced together”, but is the only source the police department? Is it all “spin”? The witnesses claim (in some cases) that they weren’t contacted by the police. The girlfriend (whose number was on the cellphone) says she wasn’t contacted. The parents weren’t contacted. From what I read (who knows?) the weapon wasn’t confiscated or sent to ballistics.

I would like it all to be true. If it was all true, why did the Sanford Police Chief step aside?

Zimmerman’s father said that Trayvon’s girlfriend, who claims to have been on the phone with Trayvon just before the incident, is lying. He says that there was no phone call. It should be very easy to establish whether or not there was such a phone call. I see two possibilities: either Zimmerman’s father is wrong (and presumably doesn’t realize how easily the phone call can be confirmed?) or he is right, there was no phone call and the girlfriend is lying. If the latter is true, then how did Z’s father get the information? Only the police (or Trayvon’s family) would be able to get the records from the cell phone carrier. The police have not released the information. If Z’s father has inside information from the police, I would find it very suspicious.
