New England rain and wind storm

Well…it is raining here already with high winds and lots of rain expected later tonight and tomorrow. :crossed_fingers:t2:the power doesn’t go out!

Ugh, leaving for the gym at 6:30 am is going to be fun! It just started raining here.

Just drove home to NE from Rochester - a parade of utility trucks getting prepared.

Got an e-mail from our Maine service provider a couple of hours ago:

We’re prepared for Monday’s windstorm

Central Maine Power has been closely monitoring another strong windstorm that will arrive early Monday morning and last through the day. The current forecast is predicting strong winds across our entire service area, and gusts could exceed 60 mph along the coast. This storm is also forecasted to bring heavy rains. Given the already water-saturated soil from previous storms, with more rainfall expected, trees may be more vulnerable to the strong winds associated with this storm.

Our service centers, tree crews and lineworkers will be pre-staging across our service area overnight and will be prepared to respond if storm damage occurs.

But it’s absolutely gorgeous today here in metro Phoenix:

Not a snowflake or raindrop in sight. Cocktails in the front courtyard this evening:

Everyone welcome!

I will let my son know:rofl::rofl:

The rain has begun here. Wind not too bad. D is flying to FL out of New Haven tomorrow afternoon. I’m hoping her flight doesn’t get delayed and that she travels safely.

Yes…it’s pouring rain here. A little earlier than originally forecast. Not windy….yet.

Yep. Waiting for it to get “bad”, although I spent the afternoon keeping (digital) tabs on our beach house which saw 8.7” of rain, so I think my definition of “bad” might be skewed. :flushed::cloud_with_rain:

@JustaMom5465 yikes…that is a ton of rain! Hope the beach house is OK.

We seem to be in a little lull right now.

Very heavy rain and intense wind here late last night. Our sump pump gave up the ghost last week but luckily we were able to get it replaced given the almost 2” that fell last night and early this morning with more to come. Currently at the airport in Boston and :crossed_fingers:t2:travel will go smoothly but out of our hands now .

Hope you got there ok! Good for you, being a gym rat at that early hour!

Crazy windy here and we are where it is least windy. Lots of downed trees, wires and closed roads and schools are closed here.

Supposedly this is going to end by 11 or so.

I am on the coast and it is TERRIBLE!! We have had some gusts over 50MPH this morning already. Walking my dog was a fun adventure. Hoping all your college kids are already home for break and not trying to travel through this.

WOW!! We almost had to close but not for weather, we have a horrible stomach bug going through the school. Hit our staff HARD last Friday and we were worried about staffing. But thankfully we were able to open. It would have been a perfect day to be closed though with this weather.

I just tried to get an Uber for 30 minutes here in Boston but no luck. I walked to the bus, with assistance of the wind pushing me.

I woke up to an American flag in my yard, and a large branch that had fallen out of a tall tree that hit the ground vertically, so it looks like a new little tree sprung up overnight.

Still gusty here, and many schools that delayed for two hours are now closing for the day.

Horrible deluge thirty minutes ago and now sunny in NYC…
