I thought Elementary was pretty boring. Monk/Mentalist/Castle/Perception have burned me out on the idea I’m afraid.

I just can’t watch Last Resort. Hate the premise so much. Just a bit too anti-government for me. I can’t watch shows with crooked cops for very long either. Revolution is growing on me, though.

DH and I tried The Mindy Project, Partners and the one where Jamie Gertz moves into a subdivision with aliens. Didn’t make it past the first commercial on any of them.

As much as I love 2 Broke Girls, it felt off this week. I will continue to watch it though. And don’t give up on HIMYM, since it is ending at the end of this year.

Nothing compares to Sons of Anarchy.

Caught some of the new shows and premiers, but like some of you say, they are not catchy. I expected more from Elementary, it did not grab me at all. I saw the previews of the Vet show and the new show with Matthew Perry during the Olympics and they both seem really fun.

Castle did not disappoint me, Still hoping it does not go too much into the relationship and keeps the police work first.
Oddly enough, I did like the new show with Amy Gertz, the Neighbors. It is a great premise. We will see how it goes. Have not seen Partners or the New Normal.

The Last Resort is batcrap nuts, but I thought the premiere was pretty effective. I loved Andre Braugher. It will be really, really hard to maintain the suspension of disbelief this show requires, though. 24 gave us two months of suspense before setting off a nuke in the Mojave desert; this show had three nukes detonated in the first 50 minutes, two of them in major cities. (But cities full of dark-skinned Muslims, so who cares, right? A huge mark against the show is that they didn’t even bother to identify them, or to do anything to indicate what the consequences were.)

Elementary was sooooo second-rate. Especially compared with the thoroughly first-rate BBC Sherlock Holmes series. Why couldn’t Hollywood have funded a real season of that?

Thanks for the suggestion of Homeland. I was looking for a show that would last more than a season since two i started watching last year weren’t renewed.

And I enjoy Mandy Patankins work very much, my dream dinner party would include Patankin & Alan Arkin ( yes I know his son Adam is more my age, but I think his dad is funnier)

So far I’ve just seen the pilot- very intense.

I loved Last Resort. Have no idea how they are going to make a series out of it. My H kept saying, are you sure this isn’t a movie?

At least it didn’t bore me. But I have no idea what is going on.

Less thrilled with Revolution. So many holes with that premise. And yea I understand the irony.

I have Last Resort recorded but can’t decide if I should watch or not. I haven’t found one new show I like yet.
I did watch the new from 2 years ago Upstairs Downstairs for the first time last night and loved it, and Call the Midwife which I also really enjoyed.

Last Resort was sort of 180 degrees from Call The Midwife. It involves men and one very macho woman (“That’s LIEUTENANT Sissy to you, Chief!” – while holding a gun on him) piloting a nuclear sub around the Indian Ocean and playing chicken with nuclear missiles sometime in the near future, vs. young women pedaling around London on decrepit bicycles delivering adorable babies and looking concerned about 60 years ago.

Looks like the first season of Homeland on Netflix will be what takes up my time in place of any of the new shows; nothing has thrilled me…

are we waiting on anything else new? or are we done for now?

American Horror Story Season 2 on Oct. 17. Season 1 had 17 Emmy nominations. Jessica Lange won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her role as a nosy neighbor.

“Last Resort was sort of 180 degrees from Call The Midwife.”

Which is why, most likely, I will never actually watch LR. It’ll probably sit in the DVR queue until I need the space at which time I will delete it.

Anyone know when Curb starts?

emilybee, the new season of Curb is on the back burner right now. I guess we never really know if there will be a new season as it is up to the whim of Larry David. I saw JB Smoove at a comedy club Friday night and asked him after the show what was up and he said he was working on a Larry David project now. It is an HBO movie.

Watched BBC version of Sherlock Holmes- based on many CCers suggestions! Superb- loved it!

666 Park Avenue was awful! Turned it off after 15 minutes and cancelled the DVR series record. What a waste of Vanessa Williams’ talent.

Too much blood in 15 minutes.

I bet it doesn’t last past Thanksgiving.

“the new season of Curb is on the back burner right now.”

Boo.

Susie lives in my town but I haven’t seen her in awhile. Was hoping she was on location. :(

Just finished watching the premier episode of Nashville on hulu. Loved Connie Britton and her character, loved the story line, loved the young singers at the Bluebird Cafe, loved everything about it! I already had it in my DVR queue for Wednesday night and will probably watch again.

I’ve enjoyed watching Last Resort, Elementary, and Revolution. Some folks have knocked each of them, but I’m just a TV fanatic overall so I’m pretty easy to entertain. :)

Very happy to have the new season of Once Upon a Time on ABC again. It helps soothe the pain of losing Alcatraz from Fox.

Raising Hope is back. My hero is Burt Chance. The 1st episode was a definite improvement over the messy and not very entertaining end to last season. You can see they’re reaching for plots a bit more now. That’s a big problem in these shows. Big Bang Theory addressed that by bringing in new cast members. This year they seem to adding Stuart from the comic book store as an additional balance and to give Raj more stories, jokes, etc.

I also liked the first episodes of Two and a Half Men. The interaction of Walden and Allen has become as about as natural as Allen and Charlie. Jon Cryer is a terrific comic actor.

The thing that amazes me is the Real Housewives franchise. I’ve tried watching them. They’re on at the gym all the time. The New Jersey one has more interest to me and my wife loves it. As an aside, I was flipping channels and saw Ethan Hawke and Liam Neeson on Watch What Happens Live wearing wigs and acting out a scene as Caroline and Theresa. That was unexpected. Can you imagine Larry Olivier as Ramona from the New York show?

I made the mistake of watching Made in Jersey. It’s about a young woman lawyer. The story line was very predictable and the acting was horrible. It’s been a while since I have watched a show that bad. I’m predicting its gets cancelled halfway through the season.

Loved Elementary!
I am giving 666 Park Avenue 3 episodes since I love the cast and am hopeful it can get better (but am doubtful).
I watched Made in Jersey too, and found myself laughing at how bad it was…legally blonde meets working girl with no talent.
I also tried The Mindy Project one more time, and it that means I have no new comedies.
