Yogesh Raut mentioned he had tried out several times for Jeopardy. I assume he did fine with the questions. I wonder why he’s just now appearing on the show?
Maybe Jamie pulled some strings?
The first part of the Jeopardy! contestant search is an online test; however, despite that test’s notorious difficulty, far too many pass than can be accommodated in the next step of the process. There’s a lottery to get to the next steps in front of the production team.
Holzhauer, for example, tried for years to get on, as do many contestants including Raut. It would be difficult to say what the reasons were.
Perhaps one could draw some parallels with the college selection process

Sometimes a 4 day champ with a lot of money gets in. Just depends on how many 5 day champs (and tournament winners) they have.
I thought he only had 3 wins?

I believe he won 3 games. I’d be happy to not see him back for TOC - obviously bright but just a bit too impressed with himself for my taste.

I’ve been missing a few shows lately so don’t know.
Emma the slayer of James H, only had 3 wins and got to do ToC because she had a large total.
He really didn’t seem like as strong a player as he may have thought he was going into it. I think he had at least one close call before today.

There have been more multi game winners lately (5+) since she defeated James , I believe.
It was maybe Yogesh’s second game, the challenger on the far right, a man in a nice suit actually gave a response in French (Qui est Gustave Eiffel?)----he nearly beat Yogesh that game, but I’m not sure how much of his schtick I could tolerate had he won!!
I feel a bit of shame that I just ran the Real Housewives of …… category.
