New Jeopardy host preference? / Jeopardy updates

I’ll take @ski’s grace since Mandela and Gandhi was also my guess.

I’d not do well on Jeopardy! even though I play every day (except when there are stupid tournaments hosted by Mayim), but really, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys and how many Mookies are there who share a name with a US President?

A week or two ago there was a day when none of the Daily Doubles was correct and no one got FJ. That really is bad (and I didn’t think it was because of the way the questions were posed).

I’ve also been screaming at the screen a lot because of the betting. Betting $2000 which brings you to just BELOW half the total of the leader? Where does that get you? Go big or go home (he went home). Betting too much when your only hope is for the leader to get it wrong (and no way for the 3rd place person to catch you in second place)? Really?

Yes, I have a bigger problem with the betting than people writing down dumb responses in FJ. Maybe they’re nervous and get the math wrong?

Agree 1000%—too many contestants do not play to win, based on their bets. If you don’t hit on a big bet, you’ll probably get the same $1K or $2K you’ll get if you hit on the too-small bet.

I don’t understand why these smart people don’t preplan their FJ betting strategy…there are a finite number of possibilities. Not infrequently the best best for the third place contestant is $0, and at least two of them lost by betting something else recently.

Last night I thought the Easter Island question in FJ was obvious. But the category mixing food and band names flummoxed me! I had no clue.

I like the new chsmpiom although he has some funny quirks.

I rather liked Crosby, Stills, Nosh & Young

All of the great champs had quirks!

I did too! But ( 60’s music trivia geek) H was quick to point out that at Woodstock, Young didn’t perform, it would have been just Crosby, Stillls, and Nosh. (I forget the exact clue but I believe it referenced Woodstock.)

Neil Young joined CSN shortly before and did indeed perform with them at Woodstock, although not for every song in the setlist, and refused to be filmed during performance.

Well…I fully expect H to spend all day googling THAT…lol

To this day Neil Young has been his own man, the opposite of a sell-out. His ownership of a pet bison that is trained to do anything for an Oreo says it all.

In Dances With Wolves, I believe his bison was used for some of the filming during the bison hunt, as it will do what it’s told (for an Oreo!)

The games have been okay but no standout contestants or shows to me lately, some categories just okay. But, always cool to see someone win at least once. You can always say you’re a
Jeopardy champion for the rest of your life!

Drew Maggi, now a Major League baseball player after knocking around the Minors for 13 years! Major League baseball player for the rest of his life. Reminded me of Dennis Quaid getting called up in The Rookie. Very emotional. Sorry for the baseball diversion !

These FJ questions are running the gamut from the sublime to the ridiculous. From Magnum PI to Dante’s Inferno.

I told my husband the question about Magnum PI and he knew the answer immediately. I had no clue.

I’ve never seen Magnum PI - either the original or the reboot. But I did know it was filmed in Hawaii, which rather narrowed it down.

Wait until you see tonight’s FJ; you’ll be banging your head against the wall.

OK, I’ll keep that in mind!

No Jeopardy for me as it was pre-empted by the NFL draft. Did the draft really need to air on both ABC and ESPN?

Jeopardy wasn’t on tonight where I am either because of the NFL draft. Was it shown in some markets today and do we need to find it online?
