New Jeopardy host preference? / Jeopardy updates

Why? He’s not a celebrity.

He is more of a celebrity than some of the others who have been on Celebrity Jeopardy. :grinning:

This content was written for an article before his episode aired. I think he has the chops.

" Basile had an impressive resume going into Survivor which should help him during Jeopardy! . In his preseason interview, Basile revealed he was the captain of his trivia team who won a trivia national championship in 2019. He also shared that he participates in competitive Scrabble tournaments."

" The Ivy League graduate described himself as one of the smartest people to ever play Survivor. While at Tribal Councils or in confessionals, Basile gushed about his love of literature and provided countless analogies

Since Survivor 45, Basile has returned to school. He is currently pursuing his masters in English Literature at the University of Oxford in England.

Celebrity Jeopardy feels like “Jeopardy Lite” and Drew is skilled enough to succeed playing (regular) Jeopardy.

Not to mention that the contestants on celebrity jeopardy are playing for charity.

He and Austin (3.96 Purdue B.S. Econ, UC Booth student) probably the brainiest of alliances on Survivor.

I briefly wondered if Mark Gagliardi (a couple days prior) should have been on Celebrity Jeopardy!, but hey, if you can get through the screening for regular J!, go for it!

I think Drew is as cute as a button! I liked Adriana a lot and am very happy for her but I am also going to enjoy him. I hope he has a good run.

When I saw the FJ category, I correctly assumed Drew would be using the Survivor strategy of going to rocks.

Apparently there is an Alex Trebek commemorative stamp. I had to call my mother to ask what a postage stamp is.

On last night’s show, the correct response was “larynx.” The contestant very clearly had the “n” in the wrong spot, like “larnyx.” Ken ruled it correct, which shocked me. I really expected a reversal to be announced, but it wasn’t. I don’t understand the judging sometimes.

There has been some questionable judging recently. Last week Drew was ruled correct with his answer of “England and Scotland” to the clue “The United Kingdom was created by uniting these 2 kingdoms.” The correct answer is Great Britain and Ireland which became the UK in 1801. The kingdoms of England and Scotland became the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1707, although they had been a personal union since 1603. It didn’t impact the final outcome

Can you tell I got a 5 in AP European History?

Wow, that’s bad! I wish my school had offered any type of AP History. I love history, but my high school was weak in the area. My tenth grade teacher knew that my BFF and I were bored in his class, so he let us spend the semester at the library, researching topics of our choice! In college, my American History professor tried to convince me to switch majors from engineering to history. Uh, no…

Well darn, my daughter lost a $1000 question on Jeopardy. Alex accepted the answer, but a few seconds later the judges buzzed in to overrule on the pronunciation.

The UK question could have been worded better, such that the answer would clearer.

Was Ireland a “Kingdom” before unification?

Yes. It was a dependant territory of the Kingdom of England, and later the Kingdom of Great Britain, but had been known as the Kingdom of Ireland since the reign of Henry VIII.

AP European History to the rescue again in today’s FJ.

After the iffy rulings about the origin of the UK and “larynx/larnynx” last week, tonight the defending champ’s score dipped below 50% of the leader because of Bridal Veil ‘Fall’ vs. ‘Falls’.

C’mon Ken!!!
