Crystal was just ok for me
Mike is next…

Don’t like Mike either…maybe it’s me ??

Mike just hit one out of the park with The Way you Look Tonight. He waz awesome!

Lee did it for me! He “modernized” Sinatra. THAT I would buy from itunes.

I agree ^^^. Lee was current and terrific!

Harry has been the best mentor for these guys!

excellent…yes, I would buy that…and I’m not a huge Sinatra fan

I liked Lee the best tonight.

You never know how the voting will go, but based on tonight’s performance, I think Casey should go.

Lee was great, and I confess, I liked him the least the whole season, but he really made progress. I thought she was good, but I am tired of big Mike and Shrimp Aaron

Aaron must go. Then Big Mike.

i dont like big max.

Really enjoyed the way HCJr got into it with these kids!

This season is terrible. Who is going to pay to see these people in concert this summer?

Anyway, loved HCJr, but he might have hurt Casey by arranging the song. I think Casey would have arranged it differently.

Aaron has a nice voice. I enjoyed his performance. He just needs to work on stage presence and um, grow up a little. Kind of hard to sing some of these songs when you don’t have the life experience to back it up.

I’ve got to rant.

The show was atrocious, and it wasn’t the contestant’s fault. Why do they ask these kids to sing swing tunes with a big band? None of them know how to do it, and that’s not their fault. You have to listen to this music and work on the feel of swing for years, not a week. Harry Connick wrote great, traditional, big band type of arrangments, for singers who had never attempted that kind of music. Why do that?

I feel particulary bad for Casey. You could take 90% of the current Nashville and rock stars, put them on the same stage, and they would fail just as miserably. Most singers can’t sing every type of music.

Week after week, the judge tell these kids, be true to yourself and be contemporary. Then they make them sing Sinatra tunes with a big band behind them? I happen to love Sinatra and that style of music more than anything going on today, but that is not what these kids do.

Rant over.

Can I just say, I LOVE Harry Connick, Jr. He is hilarious!! I could do with listening to him joke around and sing for the entire hour.

Lee was the only one I liked last night. I agree that this type of music does not suit these types of singers AT ALL!

As for who I would go see in concert, I would probably go see Crystal if she played at the House of Blues. Her sound is the kind of music I like to listen to in the evening over a glass of wine, and the House of Blues is her kind of venue, intimate and close.

The rest of them? Meh…

Reason #1: the target audience for American Idol is 50 to 80 year old white women. It’s an oldies show.

Reason #2: I am not interested enough to hunt down the specifics, but usually the guests and mentors are peddling a new CD on a Sony Music affiliated label. It’s product placement.

Reason #3: This is one of the genres that any good cruise ship karaoke singer should be able to handle, so it’s a natural for American Idol.

Last year’s loser, Adam Lambert, seemed to handle Feelin’ Good during rat pack week just fine. In fact, his full version studio recording of the song is outstanding by any standard. The problem is not the genre. The problem is that the singers aren’t very good.

I agree, most singers should be able to sing standards, but, most singers (including those at the tops of the charts - Taylor Swift anyone?) are not good singers…

I don’t think any of this year’s Idol wannabees have to worry about the top of the charts.

while I don’t think they all should have had to conform to Frank Sinatra type music, Aaron needs to leave, then Big M, or Casey and leave Lee (which I liked just about as much as Crystal) and Crystal.

painful for me to listen to Aaron anymore. While he’s talented, there’s just something wimpy about him. Big M is talented as well, but sounds like so many other singers. Lee - as much as I like him - also sounds like so many other singers. I guess the obvious winner (from the beginning) was / is Crystal.
