New practice name needed

I have a friend that is starting a new OB/GYN practice and we are brain storming to come up with a new name. She would like a name that makes you think of the South; or a name that is different from all the others out there. Looking for one word to use in front of some sort of title like Women’s Health, OB/GYN, or a few other combos. A name that you remember and don’t confuse with other groups in the area; that means none with the city or hospital name in it. Obviously, the group serves only women so there can be some feminine ring to it, but not so much that the male docs in the group cringes when they mention their practice name!!

The first we came up with was Magnolia, but she actually knows a practice with that name in another city.

Your test begins now; see what you can come up with!

Darn. I was already thinking “Magnolia” half way through your post.

Hmm…let’s see. Something that evokes thoughts of the South.

How about:
Humidity
Fire ant
Aligator
Grits
Corn pone

Slightly more seriously, how about Mockingbird? Mockingbird is the state bird for about half of the states in the old South: Mississippi, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

Sweet Tea Oh Bee (OB)!

what about and there are many “souths”: Plantation, Dixie, Antebellum, Jazz, Deep South, Dixology Dogwood, Cotttonbelt

With apologies to David Allan Coe, you have to mention Momma, Trains, Trucks, Prison, or Gettin’ Drunk.

LOL, coureur! I especially enjoyed the image of the Fire Ant Gynecology Group.

What state? In Alabama, you could have Azalea Trail Women’s Center. If you like the botanical theme of Magnolia, Live Oak, Camellia, or Honeysuckle might work. If you want to appeal to historical types, maybe Bonnie Blue Health Practice? (The logo would be all ready to go.) In Louisiana or the Gulf Coast, a little French comes across very Southern…maybe Belle Reve? Or you could appeal to the traditionalist and say the Ladies’ Circle Health Practice. Calling a woman a “lady” always makes me think of the South. The logo could be a parasol or a hoop-skirted belle.

^The camellia is an introduced foreign species not native to the South. But then so is the fire ant, so I guess it’s okay.

How about The Biscuits and Gravy Gynecologic Service?

Let me have a couple glasses of wine and then get back to you! What state??? Pre wine all I can come up with is

“Indoor Plumbing”

I guess posting this on a Friday night was not a smart idea. Along the flower line, my husband came up with Tulips! Figures a man would come up with that.

Maybe by Monday we can come up with some serious names, but until then we will enjoy the silly names.

GSharpM7: thanks for the memory-lane chuckle. “I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison…” I always thought he needed a dog reference, too.

Some obvious choices are Dixie, camellia, belle…never mind, I see they have been suggested.

You could always go with “Kudzu Gynecology”! Or “Bless Your Heart OB”

Antebellum OB/GYN, ?

Live oak…

Dixie? ???

Mockingbird?

Chickadee!

I suggest:

Prissy’s “I Don’t Know Nothin’ About Birthin’ Babies” Obstetric Service.

^^^^^^coureur…you win!

Wisteria or Momma’s moonshine Midwives.

Cypress Lane

Women Folk Health Care
Southern Belles’ OB/GYN
Blossom Women’s Health
Honey Health Care
Dixie Belle OB/GYN
Maiden Health Care
Bluebonnet Ladies Health Care
Mockingbird Women’s Health
Dixie Charm Health
