New Thread for Canadians at Ivy League Schools or other top schools

Anyone from Canada at any Ivy League Schools?

If so what marks did u have like ur average cuz we dont use GPA here. Also specify what program, SAT marks, EC’s, etc.

Going to Penn CAS next year. I’m from Quebec, but Anglophone.

88-89% cumulative GPA, 9 of 76 in honours program, top 6% in school. 2270 SAT (800 CR, 760 M, 710 W), 770 Math Level 2, 720 Literature. Newspaper editor, lit journal editor, quiz team, guitar+bass, hockey coach.

For some reason, I know several Montreal Jews (like myself) who are going to/at Penn. I think it’s a disproportionately popular university in my community.

hey how do u get an 800 in CR? I got a 610. any suggestions to improve my score? and for level 2 math how did u prepare for that cuz im in grade 11 rite now and i am taking grade 12 math next year, same with gr 12 chem

I’m a good reader anyways…the best you could hope for (no offense, since it’s unlikely that a 610 has natural reading skills) is to get a book like PR’s “Cracking the SAT,” and work on your weaknesses, and improve to ~700. Really, the book is great–I used it and improved from a 730 to an 800. It’s much easier if your weakness is reading rather than sentence completion, since reading is more about skills and less about memorizing lists of words and meanings. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to read the paper, newsmagazines (Newsweek, The Economist) and books.

As for Math Level 2, just wait to take it in grade 12. There’s no rush for SAT IIs; you can take them as late as January of your senior year. Though I find it odd that you wouldn’t have covered the requisite material in grade 11–there’s no calculus in the SAT II.

oh thx for the help but in terms of the grade 12 math we did not cover matrixes, logarithms and stuff like that yet

I’m from Ontario and am headed to Tufts next year. I probably had close to a 90% average, and I got 2040 on my SATs (710CR, 670M, 660W)

Im from Ontario too, headed to Yale. Got 2090 SAT I, 650 Math and 560 Lit for SAT II. I had a cumulative 96% average in my senior year, and my ECs range from National level athlete to running many committees to being on many more…

There are a few threads in the Canadian subforum that have acceptances/rejections along with stats. You might want to check that out.
