I know there is not a definite answer but what is a good/great score for the top 5 to 17 schools? What kind of an ACT score looks similar to a 2200 or above on the SAT?

http://www.spartanburg6.k12.sc.us/dhs/Guidance%20website/SAT-ACT%20Conversion%20chart.html

31/32 is 99th percentile

Do the ACT sections equate to SAT sections in difficulty?

ACT Math = SAT Math?
ACT Reading passage = SAT Critical Reading?
ACT Grammar = SAT Writing?
ACT Essay = SAT Essay?

i would say the math, reading, and essay are harder. the grammar is easier.

Math, reading, essay are harder on SAT or ACT?

how many can you miss on the act for reading to get a 32

i missed 4 and got a 34, but its different for every test

on the ACT

Just wondering, when you say you missed 4, was that during a test where you were able to request/receive your answer sheet and the answers? Was that the recent April test or a different one?

it was April and i saw the curve.

Where on the report does it indicate how many questions you missed on each test?

lubini, your score report doesn’t tell you. If you bought the test information release service (not available for all test dates), then you would see how many you missed. If you didn’t, but can find someone who did and borrow it from them, you can figure out how many you missed based on your scale score.

ACT Math < SAT math (you need to use reasoning for the SAT, not simply recall processes)
ACT Grammar is not like SAT WRiting; SAT writing always asks unprecendented questions that are completely free of bias, while the ACT does not.
ACT Reading…not sure
ACT SCience…easy (theres no SAT comparison)

Is the ACT more of a knowledge test than a reasoning test?

guardian–“Is the ACT more of a knowledge test than a reasoning test?”
Yeah, kind of, or at least it’s supposed to be. It’s supposed to test what you’ve learned rather than “aptitude” (which is what the SAT is supposed to test). The ACT Science section is more of a reasoning test, though (which is probably why it used to be called “Science Reasoning”).

Also, ACT does not dock you for guessing

Indeed; no -0.25 points this time around. :)

So the only section I’m really worried about is the reading. To those of you that have taken it before, how tough is it?

Is the ACT like the SAT, where if you don’t answer you don’t get any points deducted? or do you answer everything and if you get a question wrong there is a point deduction…

Bebe: It is not like the SAT in that you dont lose points for getting an answer wrong, i.e., there are no negative points…
