is this still working for anybody, mine isn’t working

Mine isn’t working either, but I’ve never been removed from “reviewed by committee” as far as I can tell.

You don’t need the “trick” now to check out Explore. If you go to USConnect and login as usual, the “RSVP for Admitted Students” is now active. I was able to view my son’s scholarship notice this way. It is the same link soaquake891 provided- but now through the “official” route.

I can’t find the RSVP for admitted students, if it’s the same link as sodaquake’s than its still not workign for me :(

College 182 what are your stats…GPA…SAT…just wondering because you didn’t think you would be considered for a scholarship

Yay it worked for me… but… how am I supposed to go to one of those preview things… I live in Singapore…
Argh, time to ask.

Presidential. Thanks for this!

dang it… can’t log in.

soadquake, this is why you’re being considered for a Trustee ;P

Haha, thank you, but I’m not so sure how happy USC would be if they knew I was doing this. XD

Oh, for all those who couldn’t log in – I think you can only log in if you were admitted in the January 26th wave. In my acceptance package, it says that admitted students can log into the deposit payment website within seven days of their acceptance… and since the deposit payment and events RSVP websites are on the same system, you won’t be able to log in unless you’ve already been accepted.

That’s just my guess.

that makes sense, hopefully i’ll be accepted in the next wave i just got my status updated to forwarded for committee review so maybe a good sign.

The caravan link has been being passed down through College Confidential for at least three years that I know of - I first was directed to it by Nikara in 2008, who picked it up from Jennqtf4 in 2007 in this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/294932-trustees-2.html?highlight=interview . I am sure Jenn picked it up from another helpful poster. Those who posted it in earlier years kept it within other threads so it was not immediately disabled, though.

^I think keeping it within other threads is wise if you want the link to continue working. I don’t really get putting a big flag on it, which has now happened twice in one week.

^ I don’t get doing it twice, either (I don’t get doing it ONCE, but that is just me). It seems that USC admissions is looking at college confidential, so I wonder how hard it would be for them to figure out which Trustee candidate in Chem Eng, from Oregon, #1 in a class of 19, keeps messing up their system? Just saying…

Right, but they can’t take it down now. They need it up for people to register for the sessions. It’s totally legitimate at the moment, as far as I can see.

Man. soadquake you are amazing. it worked for me, and said i was being considered for the Presidential-so excited, but will let myself be ecstatic when/if I get official acceptance. Do they cover travel expenses to go for the interview on campus, or is it done locally?

One other thing - with scholarship invitations arriving any day now (some people got it yesterday), it’s not a big deal to find out online a couple days early. I don’t think USC cares anymore.

In the past, attending the on-campus Explore session and interview was mandatory to be considered for the scholarship. If you book through USC’s travel agency, STA, USC offered to pay 1/2 of airfare (up to $60 for California and Arizona, up to $200 for outside California) and has discounted hotel rates at the Radisson for night before/after your on-campus overnight. The airfare reimbursement applies to the student only, and one mom posted that it was for domestic flights only (that is my only source of info on that), so check on that if you are coming from outside the US.

If they didn’t care, they wouldn’t be checking college confidential (which they obviously are)…

soadquake, my point was not that the link shouldn’t be posted - most of us, if we’re here, love the shortcuts and clues. Those who have not yet heard or had a status change would like the “tricks” to remain available.
