New Trick to Check Decision Online?!

I definitely understand your concern. What’s done is done, though, but I’m fairly certain this link will not be disabled because it has a legitimate use now.

okay, am i the only person who got the following message and was part of the january 26th wave??!?!

seriously i NEED a scholarship to attend USC, but now i’m not even being considered for one…???

do you guys think my stats aren’t good enough? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/852880-stats-only-usc-decisions-2010-a-post1064012528.html#post1064012528

^It’s not just stats that matter when scholarship candidates are chosen. No one knows the answer to your question except USC. Like I said earlier, don’t take it personally, and also wait a few more weeks. Things could change. Also, you may have gotten a Dean’s scholarship, which is an excellent scholarship as well (1/4 tuition!). Don’t stress over the RSVP site - give it a few weeks before jumping to conclusions.

alamemom
Thanks for the cost info, coming from NC it will be pricey  I have a few other scholarship weekends planned, so this is going to be crazy. I am excited about USC though!

Handlebars, you have been admitted early for a reason: USC considers you a top applicant and they really want you to attend. If you are not invited for a Trustee/Presidential interview, experience here on this forum shows that it is likely you will be offered the Dean’s. You mention on another thread that you are applying for financial aid. Be sure to get those applications in by the due dates (February 2nd) before assuming you will not be able to attend. Many students find that USC provides excellent financial aid. Also remember that USC admissions and the admissions of other schools you have applied to are in no way related to or predictive of your results elsewhere. (In a way, it sounds as though you applied to USC as a “test” to see if you would be admitted to those other schools.)

@ 2010emily - Congratulations on your interview! Really do try to make the trip, Explore gives so much information and is a great way of helping you make that important and difficult decision about where you will attend. Good luck!

TRUSTEE! I’m so excited. Has anyone actually signed up for the dates? I’m hesistant to do it before I get anything in the mail.

^do you know if the dates just for presidential/turstee interviewers, or anyone who has been accepted?

Well, I’m not totally sure because most of my knowledge over this has come from these forums. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.

"do you know if the dates just for presidential/trustee interviewers, or anyone who has been accepted? "
At this point the dates are for those invited to interview for presidential/ trustee scholarships. Other Explore dates will be posted later.

@Kate002 - I was considering registering for the February 25/26 one online, but I also want to wait for something in the mail before I do that, haha :)

Presidential right here! I’m kind of surprised I even got in, tbh…

You got into Stanford, so why not USC? XD

soadquake,
do NOT wait. sign up now.

you’re right, i think i should just wait a bit longer for any kind of scholarship letter. i remember someone saying that people admitted on the first or second day usually get trustee/presidential interviews, so i’m hoping that’s true for me too.

with just a dean’s scholarship and financial aid, i know that i wouldn’t be able to attend. i’m part of that middle class that’s too rich to get enough financial aid, but too poor to be able to pay it all. my two brothers’ experiences with financial aid from top colleges just confirms this. and one of those brothers is in medical school right now, so he is no longer part of the financial aid calculations, making my EFC even higher… plus, living in orange county and california means we get the **** taxed out of us.

at first, i might have applied to USC expecting to get a nice scholarship for financial security. but the more that i look at USC, the more interested i get. i’ve realized that i would be thrilled to go to USC, but now it’s seeming less and less possible. and if i get into the ivies, i might not have enough financial aid either. i’m just not liking where all of this is going; that’s why i’m so concerned. the UCs are my last option, but i’m not that interested in them…

@menloparkmom - Why do you suggest I do that?

awwww thanks alamemom-my head is spinning. I really need to make this trip to LA, since i have never been there, and have been an east coast girl my entire life. Thanks for your support and good luck everyone! :)

because the slots are limited and fill up fast, that’s why. you don’t know how many other trustee candidates will be receiving acceptance letters across the country in the next few days and logging on to register for Explore dates.

Really? I thought USC has a spot for every Trustee candidate to interview.

@soadquake981- Haha, great minds think alike! However, I’m somewhat worried that the spots will fill before I get to choose. Plus, I’m so overwhelmingly excited that I want to sign up right away! :)

'I thought USC has a spot for every Trustee candidate to interview."
not necessarily. some trustee candidates never interview. USC is not going to "hold spots " open waiting for students who don’t respond. the interview process requires coordination of schedules with a professor in the applicants college, as well as 2 others, including a current Trustee scholar, all of whom are very busy people! it’s up to the candidate to take the initiative to sign up, but if you wait to register you may end up interviewing in march. so look at your calender, figure out when you can fit a visit to USC into your schedule and sign up. and congratulations btw
