Thought I’d give it a try as I loved some of last year’s contestants, especially Josh Krajcik. May give it another try after the initial auditions are over after that cringe making deal with the guy that once sang a duet with Brittany Spears.

I love it! Judges are great and a huge improvement over last season. This show isn’t even in the same ballpark as The Voice.

It seemed like some of the crying was a little overdone. Of course, that is not surprising for TV.

Oh my God, I think I upset Brittany - I’m sorry Brittany.

Urg - I was just cringing through that whole thing including the embarrassed looks from the judges while he was singing. (which was pretty bad - I muted it and their comments - but I am the sort that goes off to the bathroom during a movie if I can tell someone is going to embarrass them-self),

I did think that one young 18 year old that came on soon after was awesome. Didn’t watch the rest. Maybe after the audition round I’ll return. or just go and watch me some Josh Krajcik on you tube.

I’m going to give it another chance.

I realized that I could not even remember who won last year! There are definitely way too many of these ‘talent’ shows.

Will tune in tonight though, for America’s Got Talent final. Local artist is in the finals, David Garibaldi.

You’re talking about the ending? Don’t think so at all. That was my favorite moment of the show.

Melanie Amarro (spelling?) won last year. I had actually completely forgotten that and kept thinking Josh won, because he is the only one who really sticks in my mind. (I forgot how to spell his name and when I googled to find out I was reminded Melanie actually won - but I will probably buy his CD if he ever makes one, not interest in her).

I didn’t watch last season, and tuned in just for the second hour tonite, I thought bullied crying girl was totally exhausting–honestly, work out your issues in therapy, not on national television–and her voice was nothing much. The show depends way too much on back story and drama. Demi was bright and quick, Britney was a predictable bore (and boy, does she look rough for 31, even with all the makeup and lighting). What I hate about this show and Idol, and what doesn’t seem to happen on The Voice, is the dragging onstage of obviously untalented people just so a judge can throw nasty zingers at them. It’s mean spirited and unnecessary. The guy who had sung with Britney should never have been brought into competition. He’s unstable and needs help, not TV exposure. Ugh.

You’re seriously saying that? I thought that girl was awesome and it was a great story. Many people can relate to her story and I totally felt the emotions she felt. It wasn’t overdone and it was done perfectly.

I had to take a call during “Guy who sang a duet with Britney 10 years ago.” What happened to him?

Crying bullied girl could sing in a way that made you feel her pain. That is extraordinary…but how long can a person like that last in a music career? She’d crash and burn within 6 months!

I, too, had forgotten that Melanie Amaro won last year. I liked her in the Elton John-Pepsi commercial. Wonder if she’s put any new music out…

Most of the crying was over the top in my opinion. It was designed to entertain and I am sure many of the TV audience loved it. I suspect part of it was real but part of it was clearly designed to create the appearance of an emotional moment for TV.

I changed the channel after the pageanty girl from Texas embarrassed herself onstage. Are we honestly to believe that all that wasn’t staged? Seriously? They just happened to be filming her and her nasty sister while they made all those awful comments about others and how she was going to win because she was a combination of Carrie Underwood and Adele? And then she gets out onstage and is absolutely painful to watch. Ugh.

I agree about those who can’t sing. It’s the one thing that I do like about The Voice, that they don’t bring clearly untalented people onto the show for the sole purpose of humiliating them.

One of the kids who makes the finals is from our town! (not sure if she was on last night)

We missed everything after the Texas drama queen. I actually liked Britney and Demi. I thought they were both great and added a lot to the show. I was surprised as I wasn’t expecting much.

I’ll be watching it to see a girl from the Bay Area that I know. I went to watch her audition, and am looking forward to seeing her on TV. Just wish I knew when to watch. I thought she would be on last night, but she wasn’t. The show was pretty entertaining, though the guy that sang with Britney years ago made me feel very sad. It wasn’t clear, to me, exactly what his story was. Depression maybe?

I too cannot remember who won last year.

I saw snippets of the show. Jennel Garcia, the young girl who was channeling Pat Benatar, was truly an amazing talent. The Justin Bieber look-alike who didnt want to be compared to his doppelganger was adorable. A guy who used to know Spears was a total wreck. I cant believe he is a vocal coach. I sympathize though if it turns out he had throat complications that worsened the quality of his singing. I was not sure why he had a meltdown after the audition. Was he drunk? A girl comes up later saying she was bullied in middle school. Maybe she can reserve that down the road when shes in the top 20 already. Right now, it smelled like she was using the appeal to pity card. I was not a fan of her voice.

I usually forget winners instantly, but I do remember Melanie Amaro and the way Simon cut her from his team to focus on that hot-mama with very little actual talent. Until, oh no, wait. Maybe he made a mistake? Let’s take a few producers and a camera crew out to her humble home and shock the poor disappointed girl and say: sorry. Bah!

I was mostly annoyed at all the faked drama of the perfectly lit, miked and staged “candid” moments behind the scenes. I honestly felt at times (with the mean sisters) that I might be watching a backstage scene straight from Glee. Only, not good.
Of course I will keep watching.

Yep, but last night was a reminder that America has officially lost its mind when voting for the winners of the shows. The public picked a group of well-trained poodles as winners, confirming that with the depature of Piers, the show has gone to the dogs. One has also to start wondering about the integrity of the shows.

Britain picks a rather chubby opera singer (who happens to be talented) and voil

I agree that the fake behind the scenes drama is pretty cheesy. Odd stuff. I could do without it.

The guy from Britney Spears past was upset because he thought he was being bullied by the proucers into admitting he was gay, according to some reports. The show didn’t use any of that footage. I also thought the guy who had a vase of red roses for Britney was stalker-creepy.
