Happy (very) new year to all! 
Yeah, it’s usually miserably cold here (Northeast, now 20 degrees,) so usually resolutely IN and the kids go out. But this year, oddly, bunch of gals met at a friend’s for dinner, then out to a bar-- and both of my kids were IN.
Definitely in. Watched GMTson furiously typing away on college app supplementary essays before he had to board a plane on Jan 1.
We were out last night. Walked to (in below 0 wind chill) neighborhood place and met our friends and neighbors. Had a nice dinner but couldn’t make it to midnight. I had my D and multiple guests for the past 10 days and am beyond exhausted.
Came home at 10, watched a few minutes of Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper. Every year when Anderson giggles and can’t keep it together, is the best tv for me. Love them.
Happy 2015 to everyone. 2014 was pretty good to me, hope 2015 is just as good.
Happy New Year to everyone. Stayed up til 1am, but of course I was awake before 7am this morning. I’ll be paying for this for days (just the lack of sleep, not drinking).
It was a cold evening so went out for an early dinner at an Indian restaurant with daughter. Came home and turned the Christmas tree lights on and took more pictures. Did some baking and watched the New Years countdown on tv. Toasted the New Year with a pomegranate sparkler. Nice quiet and relaxing evening. 2015 please be good.
Since we live in the middle of nowhere, there really wasn’t anywhere to go close by and didn’t want to be out on the road. We stayed in and watched old movies and then flipped over to watch the ball drop at midnight.
S1 went with a group of friends to Chicago (we live on the southeastern coast) for New Years. I’m sure he had a blast and will not admit how cold he was!

SEC is due a good win today…Go Tigers…WAAAARRR Eagle! (and fingers crossed) Will be scouting the TV for glimpses of the Auburn University Marching Band - They’re GREAT!

I used to despise Kathy. I don’t love her now but I guess I “get” her act. She does remind me a bit of Joan Rivers.
We were in last night. We had gone away for Christmas and the New Year just arrived before we even thought about plans. We put our youngest on a plane yesterday afternoon so she could get back to college to spend New Year’s Eve with her boyfriend. After her visit we were tired. Around 2 H asked if I wanted to invite another couple over for appetizers and the sunset. They accepted and we enjoyed a few glasses of wine and a beautiful sunset over the ocean. They stayed till about 8. H and I were asleep by 11.

NYE tradition for the past 15 or so years…early movie, this year we saw Unbroken, came home and had a candleligth dinner with champagne while listening to the Classical Countdown of the year’s listener voted favorite classical pieces from WQXR which we’ve been keeping track of for the past 10-15 years as well.
Unbroken was pretty good but could have had even more brutal scenes from the prison camp, not as harrowing as reading the book. Very good adapted screenplay by the Coen brothers as they really got to the essence of the book and narrowed the scope.
We also saw Unbroken last night, came home and texted our kids, and went to bed before 11. Yes, we’re a lot of fun.
Caught this thread late. We were still struggling with jet lag after coming home from Europe. I’ve been struggling to stay up until 9 pm every night and have lost the battle even though I know I’m just prolonging the adjustment. Intended to catch a 940pm movie and get home in time to see the New Year in. Instead, had a nice steak dinner early and fell asleep waiting to go out to the movie. Woke up at 12:15 am.
Oh well.
I don’t think I’ve been out on NYE in about 35 years.
We went to a friends. We have celebrated NY with them for 25 years. When the kids were younger, they all came too. Now it’s back to just the adults. We usually spend the night (it’s about an hour drive from here) and then have breakfast, brunch and play games. This year, we drove home so we could see out DS and take him to the airport this morning.
We also do a Chinese gift swap…with a theme.
Funny…this year, we were done with a five course dinner by 9:30…and honest,y…could have gone to sleep!
