New York Regents Chemistry Textbook

I am taking Regents-level Chemistry this year as a junior, and my school doesn’t use a textbook for the class. Does anybody have any suggestions for textbooks to use for REGENTS chem? I would prefer not to use “review books” until the exam in June. If anybody knows about any textbooks made specifically for NY students taking the regents? That would be great.

I would actually suggest not using a textbook. Regents classes are typically very easy. In all of my Regents science classes, I have never had a textbook, just a review book. Do not worry, you will be fine!

@kimclan1 Do you have any Regents Chemistry reviewbooks that you would suggest?

My school uses (and supplies us with) Prentice Hall Brief Review: Physical Setting / Chemistry. It has a review of all the units with actual regents questions, how to use the reference tables, and a couple recent full-length exams (although these are online for free). I have also heard of people at other schools using Barron’s, which I saw at Barnes & Noble for like $12. I cannot attest to how effective this brand is, but it’s probably pretty good. Good luck!

@kimclan1 Thanks! You think there is any difference between the 2015 Prentice Hall and 2016 Prentice Hall books? the 2016 edition is $20 more on Amazon…

@kimclan1 also does the Prentice Hall have an answer key within the book? Or are there answers on the internet?

There is no answer key with the student edition of the book. I think that you need a teacher to buy the teacher answer key, but I have no idea how much this costs. I would buy the 2015 edition because the only difference is that there will be newer full-length exams in the back, which are available online for free.
