I was going to suggest Temple and Drexel, but they’re both over $15,000. Look into them anyway. You could end up getting scholarships that bring the cost down considerably.

The OP wants a beautiful campus. That would not be Drexel, which is the ugliest campus in the country. Temple is OK- just OK. (nice buildings)
For that money, check out a bunch of the state schools- Bloomsburg, Indiana U of P etc.

^^ Oh, I agree with momofwildchild about that! I know of 2 people who went to Widener. One is there now, and one graduated over 5 years ago. I was told that is a dangerous area. I was also told by one set of parents that in addition to the tuition, they are paying a fortune summers for practical experience in a health program. They did not know this going in. I have no idea as to how they are paying for it, bc going to a 4 college in the first place was a stretch.

Drexel is a concrete mess. It has almost no green space (as opposed to Penn) and isn’t as safe. It is largely a commuter school. It has some positives, but the campus is not one of them. Temple is nicer.

After lots of consideration, I had cut on Philly schools off my list because they seemed to either have crime ridden surroundings or unappealing campuses or a high cost of living (tuition is irrelevant as I am doing grad school but certainly it would have also turned me off of Philly if it had been relevant). I looked into the Pittsburgh area universities including Pitt and Carnegie Melon. They both seemed to offer quite a bit in the way of academics and a more traditional university feel. Furthermore, Pittsburgh has a very manageable cost of living and offers most of what a large city can offer. I don’t know about tuition prices, financial aid or competitiveness for undergrads, but they may be worth looking at for you.

I’ve been at both Temple and Drexel, and I do not want to go to either. While it’s not the city I mind, it’s the lack of green. Pittsburgh – correct me if I’m wrong – has a much nicer campus than Temple or Drexel

I’ve only ever been told that West Chester has a nice campus, but i’ve never been there. Can anyone who has been there tell me what they think of it?

I grew up in West Chester. Beautiful little town, decent school. It used to be pretty boring, but lately there’s lots of cool new bars, clubs, and shops.

I concur with cleopatra. West Chester campus is nice, and the town is just big enough to be a good distraction. Philly isn’t too far away, either.
How about the Muhlenberg/Elizabethtown/E Stroudsburg type schools? Hitting the $15k/year may happen by finding a school that will give you fin aid down to that level. Good luck!

In that case, have a look at Arcadia, in suburban Philly. It’s got an actual castle. You’d likely need to look into their aid package to meet your financial goal, though.
