what would you guys advise me to do after being deferred
I have a princeton interview on the 9th any valuable insight or advice would be helpful
Be ready to introduce yourself in a few words and be ready to explain how you&Princeton are a great match (not that you think theyāre awesome, this they already know, but how their awesomeness would enhance your life and viceversa -tongue in cheek here-, what you would bring to their campus and student body, and most importantly how your strengths match theirs).
Prepare questions about the interviewerās experience there.
So iāve been doing some coursera computer related undergrad courses for some time now to improve my skills and knowledge for example,
- Number Theory and Cryptography by UC San Diego - Grade: 83.52%
- Cybersecurity Fundamentals by the University of London - Grade: 100%
- Cyber Attack Countermeasures by New York University - Grade: 96%
- Machine Learning for All by the University of London - Grade: 96%
- Computational Social Science Methods by UC Davis - Grade:95.58
and i was wondering if i could submit the courses and certificates to the schools iām applying to as an update.
Sure, it canāt hurt.
Perhaps your GC can add them and send them as part of the Optional Transcript Update thwt can be uploaded in February. It always looks more legit when itās uploaded by the Guidance Counselor!
Thanks so much
I hope you come back and update us on your results. I am rooting for you.
Yh I definitely will, thanksā„ļø
I just got notified that I got the Presidential Merit Scholarship for Florida International University which covers 100% tuition, fees and books but I dont think it covers housing so I sent an email enquiry on the matter and if there were other ways to cover my housing and meal costs.
Any advice on the matter would be appreciated
From the online description it sounds like your scholarship covers tuition, fees, and a book stipend. It does not look like the scholarship covers housing, food, health insurance, travel costs, etc. which would require a substantial outlay. You certainly can reach out to the college but this may be the schoolās highest merit award.
I got rejected from franklin and marshall
Minerva comes out on friday, fingers crossed
Got waitlisted by Minerva. is there anything i can do or should i just chill and relax
You have done everything you can do at this point. The reality is that it is very competitive for international students needing a substantial aid. You should have all your decisions in the next month or so and I wish you the best.
Donāt you already have a full ride at Fisk? That is a huge win.
Iām very sorry. Most decisions are based on what you can afford so thereās nothing you can do
Fingers crossed for the next decisions. You only need one college to come through.
The admission from Fisk is the only thing keeping me sane . If not I might have run mad but at least I have something to hold on to
Please take a minute and understand how amazingly competitive it is for an international student to get a full ride at any US university. You are asking a college in a foreign country to see your potential and grant you a full scholarship to continue your education ā these scholarships are valued at over $350k.
I hope you get additional acceptances, but recognize that your application process is already a succss.
As a backup, wondering if there are other countries where you applied that admit on stats only (ie., Canada, some places in Europe). Your stats are superb so if they donāt factor āability to payā AND offer need based/merit scholarships it can be worth a try.
I was thinking bout it but i realized that iād probably only be comfortable in the us as it probably has more opportunities and the cultural shock might not be as much as european countries. I was thinking bout canada but it seems to quiet
Itās going to be a huge culture shock in all cases.
Unfortunately McGill, UT, and Waterloo arenāt accepting applications anymore. Just FYI, at UT and Waterloo applying before Dec 1 keeps all sorts of excellent scholarships for internationals in play At McGill, things are different: you apply after admission and can be considered foe bursaries (need based) as well as scholarships (merit) -note that the province of Quebec has changed rules so that applicants with some HS French would have a better chance.
Concordia will be reviewing apps received through the weekend but I donāt know where they are with scholarships (youād need a full ride not just acceptance).
Weāll just have to keep our fingers crossed that one of the pending decisions is a YES.
I just found out i got the University of Southern Mississippiās Presidential Scholarship which covers four years of full tuition, campus housing, a meal plan, and a $500 per-semester educational stipend
