Nigerian CS applicant needing a full ride help me gauge my chances and if there are things to improve 5.0/5.0 UW, 1530, <1000$

Wowwww!!!
That’s AWESOME. (And based on this video, you’ll be living in style!
https://youtu.be/eO-jH-qTZ54?si=Yu_0cVI-o85gz-yT )
Time to reach out to the Honors College, indicating you’re one of the presidential scholars, planning to major in… with a special interest in… " Can they put you in touch with a current Honors student with the same major or similar interests?
Then look into the faculty blurbs and reach out, introducing yourself, asking polite questions about their research, how it influences their teaching, what they like best about Southern Miss.
(Same thing at Fiske).

You have two affordable acceptances as an international student needing full aid. I hope more affordable acceptances come your way – but you area already a winner! Don’t forget that.

The wave of rejections is unbearable because it’s gut punch after gut punch after gut punch. And it’s nothing YOU did or didn’t do. So, it’s…WHYY? It’s normal to feel upset and sad.
Just know there’s nothing else you could have done.
I do keep my fingers crossed for you since a few more decisions are upcoming. :crossed_fingers:

It IS incredibly competitive. As I noted upthread you are asking a university in a foreign contry to see your potential, select you from tons of worthy applicants, and give you a full scholarship that can be valued at over $350,000. You have already done extremely well with two full ride offers in hand (and possibly more to come).

Wherever you end up, I hope you embrace the experience and make the most of your opportunity to study in the US.

I think you should be held up as an example to other international applicants needing full aid. :grinning: You expanded your application list outside the “T20 or bust” and included a varied list by geography, size and acceptance rates. That’s a smart strategy and it has already worked fantastically for you.

A full ride college education is a dream for many US students too, but it is not easily obtained. For an international student, it is near impossible. So congratulations! Be proud of yourself.

Best of luck with your remaining decisions!

Thank you guys for your kind words and advice. This process has been stressful but at least it can be classified as a success. I’m truly grateful

Once again thank you guys!!

Once you get your last decision, I would focus on what costs your family will still need to pay ( consider things like: transportation to campus, required health insurance, books, etc.) and be sure you have all necessary funding in place.
