Anniversaries and celebrations tend to unearth and shake the dust of the odd and sometimes forgotten connections of life; we found this one in the Boston Globe (By the time it got to Woodstock, Quill had peaked).

Boston band Quill took the stage on Max Yasgur’s farm in 1969.
“…Scantly remembered today, the group, called Quill, was one of the more notable draws in town in the two years between the Summer of Love and the hippie generation’s “Aquarian exposition.’’ Routinely outperforming visiting Boston headliners such as the Who and Janis Joplin, the band came to the attention of Woodstock organizers a few months before the festival, during a memorable jam with Jimi Hendrix and Stephen Stills at a midtown Manhattan nightclub…” (BG)

The Northfield Mount Hermon School connection: “The brothers – Jon, born in 1947, is a year and a half older – attended prep school together at Northfield Mount Hermon, where they effectively took over the school band.”

I wonder what roles the brothers hold in NMH lore? You can hear the generations of embellishment…

Very plastic fantastic!

It SOOO figures that NMH has a Woodstock connection… :-)

I would have thought it was Pomfret or Putney.
