NMS cutoff predictions for class of 2018

I think just because nobody here from Washington has heard yet doesn’t mean the mail hasn’t been received. We are in Ohio and we have heard nothing from the school. I do hope you get more data soon.

@SwimJock32, I don’t think students would have received any email yet. I’m sure if an email goes out, it would go out after the date that all of the semifinalists are made public. The process is pretty simple, so don’t worry yet, you have time. Here’s the essay prompt:

To help the reviewers get to know you, describe an experience you have had, a person who has influenced you, or an obstacle you have overcome. Explain why this is meaningful to you. Use your own words and limit your response to the space provided.

Still waiting for Godot.

Thanks for the reply. Would NMSC contact me through email though? Is that something I should be expecting? It seems more like they would contact me through my GC, no?

@SwimJock32 no they will not contact you through email. You GC should have a list by now if not they should contact NMSC.

Hey guys, I don’t believe a NH cutoff has been stated or a student even spoken up. I qualified with a 219.

Congrats @kjake2000!

thanks @traveler98

Frustrated. Our principal told me on the phone last week D18 is NMSF and to go to GC to get her letter. D went to GC today to get her letter and GC said she couldn’t give it to her due to confidentiality until press release date! D is now mad at me because she was in an awkward situation! GC is wrong because we are allowed to have the letter! So frustrated! Bad communication between principal and GC and poor interpretation of the letter by GC! (Our school doesn’t get many NMSFs but my D16 was one 2 years ago too so they should know they can give her letter to her!)

So… these letters. They have a login to complete the application, right? Is there some sort of ID number you need, or could students who are above their state’s cutoff but haven’t been notified still log in somehow so they can a) verify their status, and b) complete the application?

@DiotimaDM that’s exactly what I’m waiting on. I need a temp account to start the application

@DiotmaDM, the website for Online Application is https://osa.nationalmerit.org/. The “temporary Username and Password” has to be provided by the school (Principal/GC/whomever received the information about each individual NMSF candidate from that school).

If this is your first visit to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) Online Scholarship Application (OSA) website, please enter your temporary Username and Password below. Upon successful login, you will be asked to create a permanent Username and Password.

Ugh we are still waiting too. Why so slow unnamed high school?

It’s not like we are going to tell anyone anything. Where’s the trust?

Great news! Obtained “the book.” Send me names, and I’ll confirm them.

^^^Wow!!!

@jswani does the book list the cut off for each state?

@3scoutsmom As far as I can tell, it does not. It just lists students by state, and further broken down by locality.

If anybody wants to send names for confirmation, make sure to include city/town to make it easier to narrow down. States like Texas are hard to search through.

Wow-that’s amazing. Thanks for making the effort. Messaging you now.

Jswani rocks!
