NMH just called my dad. I’m admitted- but with no aid whatsoever. I need full aid. If I get in nowhere else what should I do?

well first of all rad, CONGRATULATIONS!!! 8D! 8D! 8D! srsly, told you bwoo ha has were brilliant (alliteration, ohohoho).

second…that kinda sucks D: is aid a really pressing issue? because if you don’t get in anywhere else (which i doubt, please refer to above statement on bwoo ha has), i really think you should take the opportunity anyway. can you appeal to them for more aid?

also whoah rad, how did you get an early decision from NMH? are you a legacy there too?

no, they said they wanted to call so that it wasn’t just a letter, because that’s lame they say.(yes i notice that’s redundant)

as i stated in my op: i DEFINITELY need full FA b/c frankly that’s more than my parents make a yr :P

It’s amazing how CC puts stuff in perspective and exposes you to other peoples lives and all. That SUCKS Rad, I really really wish they’d taken you but at least you know they really wanted you but couldn’t take you. Your awesome Rad anyway
and I’m not just sayin’ that.

Oh, well that was kind of them at least. D: I’ll be praying for Taft for you Rad!

Blue: They accepted me
, just with no aid :(

I’m so sorry Rad
You deserved to get in. Well you did get in, and hey, that’s still something special. You’re material enough for NMH! ![]()
Just wait for another school to accept you WITH aid… NMH will be jeal-ousss!!

I know. I phrased it poorly. I meant they really wanted you but obviously couldn’t offer the aid for reasons unrelated to you
Good Luck with Taft!

AWW Rad!! I’m sorry! At least Taft is still there, and since Rad is just so “radass” and radical u must get in :D

rad, you’re like, super rad and gnarly mann.

I have heard from reliable sources at several schools that financial aid is extremely tight this year. Right now there is nothing more to do but wait for tomorrow and see what your options actually are.

It is not a just world and there is no use pretending it is. Those of you who have worked hard for this, and there will be some, who do not receive enough financial aid to go, will be heartbroken. You may wonder if all your hard work was worthwhile. Never think you have to go to boarding school to have the future you want. Remember the enormous difference between how you feel now and what has actually changed in the world for you, with your energy and work ethic and potential.

Most of you who have formed this community at CC have the resources and drive to get the most out of whatever high school you attend, whether that be an elite boarding school or a mediocre public or stifling private school. If you can’t squeeze it out of your high school, look to the community.

You will all be the same people on March 10th as you are today, March 9th, with the same families and friends, and unbounded possibilities.

I say this as a parent who is also anxiously awaiting envelopes and financial aid packages on behalf of her D tomorrow, and as a parent who has been through this twice before with older children, in better economic times. (A very few of you on CC may remember me from years past.)

For many families, there will be limits to how far even the most committed may be able to stretch their budget. Parents may be devastated too, that they cannot provide this opportunity for their children. Some of you know this well, some of you will not have come up against it in your families before.

Rad-in-Plaid, do not for one second let yourself believe that your sister is “better” or somehow more worthy because she got the financial aid your family needed. She was the beneficiary of a flush economy; you are competing for far scarcer resources in a recession.

I hope this post does not have the effect of being a “downer,” but rather a bit of inoculation. Brava, bravo, and good luck to you all!

But but SHE IS BETTER! Well really she’s a better person overall
btw, this is my sis’ second yr @ PEA. So not exactly what I would call a ‘flush’ economy.

i was laughing cuz it was so super awesome rad :D

surrre you were lol ;)

I also have a S who is in his second year at boarding school. I believe there is no comparision to what was offered then and what is being offered now; for the most part schools started to reflect the changed reality last year.
