No AP courses offered. But I've been studying for IIT.

Hey, here in India by school/college(Narayana , you can google it. ONe of the most intensive coaching centres. We have about 11 hours of school everyday) doesn’t offer AP courses but instead we spend the entire day preparing for this entrance exam called the JEE.
The curriculum is said to be much much harder than the AP courses. So I was wondering if I could somehow include this in my College App. How do I tell them this?

You don’t; that’s the job of the person who writes the guidance recommendation.

@skieurope What exactly is a guidance recommendation? And the thing is I don’t really have a counselor cause here in India studies abroad for undergraduate is considered too costly because no one knows about financial aid and stuff. So there really isnt any helpful resources locally. Even my teachers are unaware of the procedure and aren’t used to writing letters of recommendations.
I have to manage almost everything by myself. Any help would be amazing

The exam is know to be one of the toughest exams out there having an admission rate of less than 2%
And preparing for it really does make it living hell for you. It’s really really hard and it takes a lot of time(around 11 hrs a day as i mentioned) and effort(solving multiple different sums of different models). Its hard to let the effort go un noticed. So if you could tell me how to tell them this it would be amazing.

Sorry for the spam the syllabus for the exam can be found here. http://www.jeeadv.iitb.ac.in/syllabus

While yes that is a rigorous curriculum, I have actually covered nearly all of the same topics on that list in my Honors Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, AP Physics B, and AP Physics C class.

Though the exam may be brutal (idk), the curriculum really isn’t that much different than that covered in an AP class.
As for as exam preparation time is concerned, I agree that it would be best to have it conveyed in a recommendation letter.

The guidance counselor is responsible for filling out a recommendation form which discusses your rank relative to other students, the type of classes offered, assesses the rigor of your schedule, etc. S/he is also responsible for sending an official copy of your transcript. In foreign systems where there is not guidance counselor, this becomes the responsibility of an administrator/dean/headmaster. It is not the responsibility of the student, nor will colleges accept this information directly from a student.
