No more likely letters?

On a comment on a ‘Notes from Peabody’ post today, Dean J said that there are no more likely letters. I’m curious as to why they did away with them this year. Any ideas?

Probably because they created too much worry among the people who didn’t get them. Also, because the most motivated applicants can now apply early and not have to wait until March 30th to hear a decision.

Despite plenty of our peers using them and the positive message in those letters, they seem to create a lot of anxiety.

That’s understandable. I guess we are anxious enough as it is!
